WCCC Gess Motorsport Outing?

In previous years the WCCC made an annual trip to Gess Motorsport in Crete, then shot over to a local dyno somewhere in Indiana. I'm not sure why there was no trip to Gess Motorsport last year; and after looking at WCCC 2008 schedule of events -- it appears as if it'll be omitted in 2008 as well. This annual event was the only event in which I didn't have to drive for an hour and a half. Not trying to step on any toes here -- nor am I sure what the deal is here, but please don't forget about us south suburban members.

CHRIS DAMSCH 02-23-2008 04:01 PM

Set it up, People will show up. The events on the schedule are a guideline. I enjoy the ride to the southern burbs. I usually visit some family that lives near Gess while I'm out there. The Dyno we've been to is Mroz Complete Auto. Dan owns a SPF among other cars.

This would make a great early spring snake and eggs/drive afterwords.

Let us know when, and we will show up.

How's your car coming along? Any new pics?

OhBuoy 02-24-2008 01:22 AM

Dee,

As a sow sider myself, I am all for it. Cracker Barrell and Gess, who could resist!

Tom, it's been years since we last spoke and you may not remember me. Here's a hint: the first time we spoke was about three years ago in your driveway. Talked shop for a few hours and you were about to drop in that 347. I knew you were dealing with some things and figured I'd just bump into you sooner or later. Looking forward to catching up with ya!

Chris, I'll give Karl a call and try and schedule an early spring outing. I know he was swamped, last I visited his new shop (still in Crete). My build is moving at snails pace; should be out for paint VERY soon and I can see the light (mostly Bud & Miller). I've got a ton of build pictures to share, so I'll upload some and start a "build pictures" thread soon. Here's an older picture already uploaded with the engine in place:

Wow, That thing is awesome!!!. I think I see a dirty spot! I'll send Blas over to clean it for you.

Is your Car going to be painted that same color scheme? Looks very nice.

Tell us, What colors. Come on, quit holding out on us.

Maybe we can get a good weekend in April for the Gess trip?

slow_motion 02-24-2008 12:01 PM

Where where where? Did I miss some dirt?!?! Well, send Blas on over -- I guess. Thanks Chris I'm glad you like what I've done thus far. Chris the body will be painted with an identical paint scheme, though I've been discussing different color and stripe options. Since I'll be out kicking some "blue cobra ass", I'm painting her red; This way the back of my cobra will remain identifiable to blue ones that are a mile or so behind me. For now, I'm looking at a candy brandywine and I'll go with either a ghost stripe or a phantom stripe. Here's a picture of what I'm trying to have done with similar stripes:

CHRIS DAMSCH 02-24-2008 02:26 PM

I like it. I love the hidden stripe look. That is one of those colors that changes its look with cloud cover, pure sunshine, dark. etc.

I think you'll be very happy with it. Just get use to hanging in the back of the Blue Cars trying to catch up.....

What engine combo did you go with? Is it really a 302 or a 347, supercharged, nos combo?

Love the look of that stack injection.

slow_motion 02-24-2008 03:23 PM

Glad you like it Chris! Get familiar with seeing that color from the angle pictured above -- just a LOT further back. I can't run a supercharger with stacks, and 16 gas/NOS lines would look terrible IMHO. I'm pretty sure the engine should make about 215 FWHP or about 160 RWHP (+/- 2 HP) :3DSMILE: Who knows, with the stacks I may get up to about 185 RWHP. That'll be plenty to knock off about 90% of the blue ones! An upgrade to 89 octane, and I'll beat the snot out of the quickest blue ones! (You got that Al?)

CHRIS DAMSCH 02-24-2008 03:47 PM

Oh boy, You better get that thing done quick. My car just started itself in the garage and it's pissed off.

Another slow red car talking smack, I love it. All in fun!!!

Spring must be near, we're all getting antsy.

Isn't the red/blue car war so much more fun than the big block/small block battle.

All in fun.

Go team blue.............................

Oh, here's the difference between red cars and blue cars. Check out how much more fun the blue cars have (we drive them)!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL

This is getting dropped in my BLUE cobra shortly...

Dyno pull video

I'll slow down a little to let you get a better look at the shade of blue ;)

Blas 02-24-2008 04:06 PM

Hey, that red one looks like it's going 200mph even when it's parked...Chris, you really should get a engine rebuild soon, look at all the smokey oil exhaust around your car...You must have a big carbon footprint....

CHRIS DAMSCH 02-24-2008 04:09 PM

Ed,

Welcome to the good guy team........

How's your car coming along? Painted yet? Will it be ready for spring?

CHRIS DAMSCH 02-24-2008 04:11 PM

Blas, she does look fast even standing still...

Yeah, I know, the little blue car puffs a little smoke

Well the engine is done as you can see. Picking it up tomorrow. Motorsport Collision picked up the body yesterday...

I'm behind on getting the chassis on wheels, mainly do to the crappy weather. Hoping to have it on the road by mid-may **)

LMAO! Chris you're killing me over here! The picture of Blas's (how the hell do you say that?) car is at the finish line waiting on the blue cars to arrive. I'm trying my best to find someone that can get my car painted like yesterday. All I hear is that we're 12 to 16 weeks out!

Ed that thing sounds like a monster! Just think how much faster it would run in a red one. It's going to sound (and look) like I'm passing a train when I fly past you with my little 302 (w/damn good oil). :3DSMILE:Just remember Ed, it's not how much HP you have -- it's how much you can get to the pavement & your ability to tame a beast. :p Hey, anyone heard from Warren lately? LOL

slow motion,
Your build looks incredible. What attention to detail. Keep going, you're almost there. Those pics are motivation for folks like me that are just getting under way.

Take care,
