Isn't the Missouri a battleship...not a destroyer.

"DESTROYER"? Not my note. This is, of course, the foredeck of the famous BB 63 Missouri. Those 16-rifles EACH weighed 285,000+ lbs! Each rifle, not all three. Starting right about where that 3'-high wave-break is, going out (almost) to the hull sides, under and around the forward gun-mounts, under the magazine and barbette assemblies of each, around the bridge, up to the fighting bridge and tops, aft to the after 16" mount and up behind it, is a complete "box" of 16"-19" armor. Sorta like a big box. All the rest of the superstructure, bow, stern and auxilliary gun-mounts (5"ers, etc.) were "unprotected"!

My mistake. I was looking at three pictiures at the same time and two of them were of the destroyer.
