I guess you haven't been watching the Ford GT for the past decade. Prices started climbing about 8 years ago and have steadily increased since. The Heritage (Gulf) demands a premium over the others, and low (delivery) miles of any car get a huge premium.

I sold my Heritage car at Barrett Jackson last October for 295K (less 8%). I didn't make any money over what I paid for it given the costs of registration, insurance, etc for 7 years.

I think that prices are generally headed downward. The BAT car was an anomaly in the past few months.

I sold mine because I couldn't drive it any more - bad back and neck - and it was starting to "rot" into the garage floor. SPARE PARTS ARE (1) BECOMING IMPOSSIBLE TO GET AND (2) COST A SMALL FORTUNE. Dealer services are impossible since the Ford GT trained mechanics are almost all gone now. Simple things that used to be reasonably priced, e.g., my first oil change was under $100, now cost 5x that (yes, when I priced it in the winter of 2019 it was $500, and the oil is cheap). I did it myself in 45 minutes.

Headlights cost $5K, if you can find one, there is now a year wait. Body panels, e.g., front fender cost 20K, the rear clamshell more than most cars (if there are any left). Parts regularly go on allocation - the trunk and clamshell struts that used to cost about $20 each are now close to 100 and on backorder for an indefinite period.

You have to show registration and insurance (ie, ownership) to buy parts. SOme unscrupulous people were buying out common parts and selling them when shortages happen for 2x MSRP or more.

GAUGES FAIL! Ford/Autometer design flaw. Someone made a complete dash bezel and gauge replacement but Autometer stepped up and made a different design of the small guages. Large gauges (speedo and tach) are still Ford (which will eventually fail too) or the whole dash replacement.

Last shortage is backorder of oil pump (it's a dry sump) belt... This situation is only going to start happening to more common parts and more frequently.

The only up side is that it's a f*n Ford, and simple to work on yourself. But then you have to be able to get parts...

I wouldn't recommend buying one. Buy a McLaren instead.
