Since the survey was done, we have had the NSW Championships that used the same standing start format as last Year's Nationals.
After the Championships we started to get some "noise" from members that although people didn't mind the standing start, they would prefer to go back to the single lap format.
It was discussed in a couple of our club meetings and in the end, the members voted by (a large) majority to change back. We then had a vote at committee level and it was also voted to revert back to the single flying lap format.
I think we also need to be a bit careful with the results of the survey as people change their minds over time. Also, some of the people that answered the format question were spectators, not competitors.
Personally I think there are good points for both formats but I don’t believe that changing from one format to another will change the end result. Fast guys are fast, slow guys are slow, the only thing that changes is the margin.

I like the "just for fun" idea though.
