My superformance had a strong fuel smell when I got it- turned out the fuel level sender gasket had deteriorated to a crumbling nightmare.

I cut a new one out of sheet gasket, and glued it in, works good now. It had a visible drip line after refuelling before. I just traced it up.. and up.. to the sender unit.
