People seem hung up over the $400 loan? My parents in the same period paid off their home to the owner with hand written checks; back the the bank returned cashed checks with each month's statement. Those cashed checks were the 'receipts'.
Why couldn't the car have been won by Paul Cunningham in a poker game, or as a side bet on a race? Ann might have been Po'd and hung onto the title, but let the actual car go. The death of Cunningham cleared the bet, but what was she to do?
Too many people no longer around to explain things and SAIC seemingly allows things like this. As posted much earlier, this is why Jay Leno owns a replica.
