I bought my Coupe kit from someone in another state, the MSO was signed (notarized?) and I had a bill of sale. I built the car in about a year, paid the tax on the sale price and passed a level 1 inspection and the car is registered as a 1965 Special Construction. No smog and plates are about $30 /year.
I spent more time worrying about getting the car titled than it took to get it titled.
