I have the Tilton setup on a TKO600 in my Cobra now for over 5 years with no issues at all.
Have just purchased the same setup to fit to the top loader in my 66 Fastback.
Is it possible that a lot of these failures are from not setting up properly in the first place? Or possibly incompatible fluid which swells O’Rings.
The Internal slave cylinders will also not tolerate over travel..Therefore a pedal stop I feel is a must.
Cheers

I also have the Tilton setup, brakes and clutch & slaves.
I also agree that it could be their not done correctly built. Even something simple can cause big issues.

Sheesh, HTOBs! My advice for my car is to go with an HTOB, but I have been concerned for some time about the reliability of HTOBs so I am going to use a conventional external slave, and I will add a blister to my tunnel for clearance if need be. I don't want to have to remove and refit a heavy Toploader just to (again) access the HTOB. I'm too old for that !

Cheers,
Glen

This is a HTOB that I have in my car. It has been in use for 7 years, no leaks, works well.
It is OEM quality from GM I believe. Many OEM's are using HTOB these days.
However, I do agree with the others, it's only advantage I see is to save space.

Default External slave

I recently had to replace the master clutch cylinder...not a problem after I figured out the only way to access it was removing the side vent...it was leaking bad and the goop that came out looked like cable lube graphite....the external slave wasn't leaking and although I ordered a new one, I chose not to replace it until it gave out or started leaking...very simple to replace it...flushed out the system and used Dot 4...clutch is a little heavier but much more responsive...the Tremec 5-speed shifts awesome now....
