Are you going to attend the DVSF II? If you are there, come and listen to my 351W. Most people think it is a BB and they are very surprised when I open the hood to show them the 351. I can remove the packing from my mufflers, which I will be doing at the fling.
The problem with turning down the ends of the pipes is that you tend to stir up a lot of dust which pi$$es off other car owners. I can tell you one thing, the loud sound is great in town, especially when you set off car alarm systems  , but it is not too much fun on long trips.
