If the cam is already broken in, the oil isn't really that critical now.

The tall and skinny of it is that if you want to spring for it, Brad Penn would probably be the best oil for the engine. However, it's high dollar. I would just use a good Mobil 1, Valvoline, or Rotella oil in it, don't worry about synthetic.

As for plugs....what ignition are you running? MSD? Duraspark?

A good Champion, Autolite, or Motorcraft plug will be just fine.

what oil weight is best to use.
its not a new engine so the break in is not needed. as for ignition, its a msd box, what about spark plug gap? what is recomended.

Without knowing the bearing clearances, I'd just go with a 10W30 or 10W40.

For plug gap, you can gap them at around .040-.045".

Type of oil always matters for flat tappet cams. I suggest using Valvoline VR-1 because it's easy to find and has all the additives you need. Brad Penn and Joe Gibbs offer flat tappet oils too, but they can be difficult to find. There are also flat tappet additives for regular oil available from Comp Cams and Lunati.

Motorcraft plugs are fine, .040-.045 with any electronic ignition.
