I agree on both counts.

Patrick will be somewhat impressed you had the accessories hooked up on the dyno so the tune will be more accurate er sumthn. Don't forget that air filter!

Indeed he is. Brent gets an A+ for his efforts in customer service every time. I'm curious as to what the rocker issues were though. And those HP numbers look pretty good from where I'm sitting.

The HP numbers look good to me also. I'll bet we get to 650+. And on a conservative dyno with accessories.

Lemmee tell you... you will never, ever, ever, ever use that kind of horsepower on the street in a Cobra. Whatever tires you have on there, when you stick the throttle, so that you don't break the tires loose much, but accelerate as fast as your total package allows, you can not do that safely for much time at all on the street. In fact, when you switch out the spring on your secondaries (which you mentioned you need to do in a previous post) you will be absolutely amazed at how difficult it is to safely open your secondaries fully on the street.

You're probably right. I think I'm going to start off with a throttle stop installed. But it's fun to build.

Most claims are more square like 600/600. Is there a reason this was lower on torque?

Probably because these are honest numbers

It's a more aggressive cam then those types of hydraulic roller builds.

When you choose to put the peak hp rpm higher, it detracts from the lower end power. It's a function of the camshaft and where you want the powerband to be.

This is the power profile Brent and I were going for and it looks like he achieved it perfectly. We wanted the power to come on strong in the mid range, and rev higher than we could achieve with hydraulic lifters. The trade off is some lower end torque but we are traction limited so it shouldn't matter. It's amazing to me that it's possible to build a 482 CI engine that revs past 7100.

There are some 500 CI's that rev to 9500+.

Even more amazing. My daily driver is a 3.0l straight 6 twin overhead cam and redlines at 7000 RPM. *Much* smaller engine, much more modern design.

Either way, it's an angry sounding engine.

Very nice indeed. How long until it's delivered and you can drop it in?

If Brent can ship it mid-week, I'll have it by the weekend of the 25th. I would try to drop in in the following weekend (Feb 1) if my friends are around to help. After that, I still need to order a few parts to plumb the remainder of the fuel system, etc. If all goes well, I *could* have it on the road in February and ready for my VIN inspection before March. That's the goal.

lippy

638 hp @ 6600, 567 lb-ft of torque ... that should more than adequate for the task at hand ... Brent built you a very nice motor indeed!

With great power comes great restraint, be sure you are pointed straight ahead when you put your foot to the floor ... Give yourself some time to get used to the power and I let us know how you like it.

Look forward to seeing your ERA on the road.
