Does the car start and run now? I had the same problem a while back and it turned out to be a distributor. the wrist pin let go and the gear was loose,timing was off and car started stalling coming to stops.

I wonder if advancing the timinig would solve the problem of stalling or increase the idle??

Will it idle at all if you take your foot off the pedal and put the trans in neutral?

If not, either your timing got retarded somehow, or you might have some debris in one or more of the idle jets.

Does the car accellerate OK? If so, not the dizzy or the main jets.
