Notice by inference Patrick didn't include ERA.

Aren't you the sharpie. But he doesn't own an ERA, nor do I own an SPF.

I think Steve is still mapping his EFI on his SPF while building his CSX.

He's one of those multi-tasking type guys. I can do only one thing at time. Makes it tough to chew gum.

It obviously holds true for an ERA.

What's the significance of a manual? Does a manual enhance the value?

The Cobras that really need manuals are the ones with cigarette lighters, coffee mug holders, stereos, A/C, tops, heaters, defrosters, tonneau covers, etc.

Kirkhams are far less complicated, since they have none of these.

To a lot of people a manual doesn't matter. Mostly, the CSX manual thing is just a recurring subject that keeps coming up but never gets done. I can think of at least three distinct threads where "a CSX manual was going to get written." And it never does. Plus, it's fun to needle DCDoug about it. Kirkham has a partial-manual, and so long as the Kirkham bros. are alive and well that's probably good enough.

You have to look at all three, then depending on your skill level look at the geographical region you live in, if you cannot change a clutch it would be better to live near an installer. If you are going to install your own engine and trans buy what you like. If you just have gobbs of money buy new, if you dont there are some smoking deals on used ones right now, all makes and models.

I cant wait to see the new hurricane also. I hope someone publishes a build log soon.

Never ridden in any of the three - I would like to have, but it looks like I will probably have the first ERA in Arkansas. I went with ERA because I wanted a Street Cobra and I wanted originality in all outward and cockpit area appearance. And as an engineer, I liked their frame, suspension and body design. I've followed them since 1980. Like the above post - I don't think your going to get out the door with a painted ERA roller for $40k. They just raised their prices $2,000 also.

Mine is ready to ship shortly after the first of the year. Then I can get busy.

You might want to look at Unique also. They were probably my close second. Their body looks great and the interior is reasonably faithful to the originals, but not nearly as close to original as the ERA. Chassis has IRS and looks well built. They have a long history (back to 1977 I think). If spot on originallity in the interior and under the hood isn't a big concern, you probably could get a painted roller out the door from Unique for $40k.

I'm sure Sandwich and the other guys have figured out how to put a Kirkham together by now, don't ya think?

Now granted I'm not the right person who should be saying this, but, these cars are relatively simple cars and many, many, many less than ASE certified mechanics have finished them in their garages.

Now if anyone needed a manual on how to really screw things up, then I should start writing that manual.

Chapter One - Do You Remember the Exxon Valdez? Well, I once spilled so much oil in my garage that FEMA, the EPA and the Department of Fish & Game had to be alerted.

Chapter Two - OCD Versus Nuts and Bolts - Have you ever been so obsessive compulsive that you tightened some nut or bolt so often to get just right, that it eventually became stripped? Just couldn't leave well enough alone, huh?

I have been gone for the last couple weeks and haven't been tuning into here. What the h*** are all the "sponsored links" that are suddenly being inserted into the threads?? I go soak up some rays; watch the "really big waves" on Maui ; and the threads turn into sales pitches? Thinking about a return flight! Can someone explain? Thanks for any input.

Bob

Patrick....Now I never said that....as I usually don't criticize another manufacturer's offerings...just the people who drive them...

I am going to start one. I have already written the chapter on how to properly sheer off a pan bolt. Maybe RodKnock can be a contributor.

You should also include a chapter detailing RodKnock's technique for changing oil. Perhaps with the caption "Don't Let This Happen to You" along with the corresponding graphic below.
