What is the problem? And how do I fix it?

With the cobra up on stands for the winter, I wanted to try to fix a few things. One of which looks to be a slave cylinder, I think. If you would, please take a look at the photos and give me your thoughts on what may be going on here and how to fix it if necessary. I am not real mechanically inclined but I'm learning as I go. Thanks for the input.
