I am not sure just how the law is but up here the tire dealers and people who repair them will not put a tube in any tire with a sidewall puncture. It opens them up to lawsuits if anything happens. I talked to a CHP officer about this one time and he said any sidewall puncture makes the tire illegal to use on the highway. You can patch it and use it on a ranch truck or other vehicle that is never on the highway. I have seen Jack turn away many people that wanted a tube put into a tire that had a puncture in the sidewall.
