Default Air Filters for Turkey Pans

Where are most folks buying air filters and air filter bottom plates that are 8 inches and fit inside a turkey pan?

What performance improvments will you notice with a more open air filter? Cooler engine at low RPM??

Thanks in advance

Paul

You can get them at summit racing. There are three that most people use. All will fit the diameter of the S&H air cleaner, but they are different heights. I actually bought all three and then returned two of them. In order of preference (these are the summit part numbers):

KNN-E-1015 (tallest, flows best, but didn't give me enough clearance with my hood scoop)

KNN-E-2570 (second tallest, just slightly taller than the stock foam filter and fit my car. This will probably fit most cars. I actually put the screen back around this filter so it looks somewhat original)

KNN-E-9181 (shortest, this is probably almost the same height as the stock foam filter, but would flow the least well)

If you don't want to wait (Summit may need to order it), finishline has the 2570's in stock, but charges about $10 more.

I made my own turkey pan. But in order to attach an element of Italian flair!, I used a Lasagna pan from a restaurant supply. I fabricated all the components and made sure that I could get off the shelf oval filters to fit. The filter I found was 2" high. I thought I would be happy with that. I then found that K&N made the same size filters 2" high and 4" high. Unfortunately the 4" model was too high to fit.

But guess what? K&N will custom make virtually any filter for you. I had them make a couple 3" high oval filters for me. $65.00 each. And quality is just perfect.

There's also the K&N 4720, which is between the 1015 and 2570 in terms of height coming in at 2.125" high. Note that Summitt shows the 2570 as 8.188" diameter where the others are 8".

Didn't try the 4720. The 2570 definitely fits though.
