Looking for fuel injection system for my FE.
I am starting to research injection system for my Roush 451ci FE. I have the FAST EZ system on another cobra 460 and it works great. I am looking for a weber style for my Kirkham. Only those owners with FE knowledge would be appreciated. Not to be rude, just looking for accurate info. Peace, Darren :)

I have an FE EFI 488". The manifold is from www.swartzracingmanifolds.com. I have high rise heads but he makes this for mid rise heads.
I am using an Electromotive TecGT ignition and throttle bodies from www.verycoolparts.com. The system works very well...once the tuning is done. Check my gallery, some photos there. |
I have a twm/FAST setup on mine. Love the look! It came from Keith with a speed density setup. I've since changed it to Alpha N and had really good drivabilty. I live at about 4500 ft here in SLC and have gone up to 10,700 with no problem. (The TWM stacks only have about 6 lbs of vacuum at idle, which doesn't work too well with SD.)
I came up with a really good throttle cable setup also if you are interested. I'm sure the Kirkhams could replicate it if you don't have access to a machine shop. Let me know if you want to chat. len |
For the looks,.....the Dynatek is awesome, as the rails are underneath the intake. very expensive though.

Hi Darren,
Look into the Dynaforce set of products, Weber look alike and a new computer that simplifies the set up process. http://www.dynamicmotorsports.net/Dynaformance.htm TR |
Does anyone have a Dynatek setup that works flawlessly or nearly flawless? I haven't heard of one yet, but I assume there must be somebody out there.
Please post if you do. Thank you. |
TR- how much is it ?
Rod-I may be mistaking but, did Dean Lampy have their setup ? |
Yes, Dean Lampe ran Webers on his RCR40 and then switched to Dynatek FI. I remember corresponding with him. His Dynatek setup did not run flawlessly and he is running Webers on his Hurricane.

Hi Kevin,
With the down stacks, manifold, computer, wring harness, runners, injectors and fuel pump it is expensive $5K - $6K. ( I may have missed additional parts needed) I depends on the engine but, given the current stage of the economy and dollars for hobby spending it is probably negotiable. TR |
I talked with Dean but it was so long ago (about 20 min. ago) :p
that I don't recall the issues. I think,..... it was about the "self learning". The fast system would be better. |
If that is a running total, that's actually less than most.
Which computer is it ? Hopefully a stand alone. |
Hi Kevin,
I believe it is a stand alone programmed from a laptop........I have now relayed my knowledge on the Dynatek system. I had used a TEC3 with the Very Cool Parts intake on my Daytona and it was a nightmare. The new owner has removed it and gone to a carburator. Having been burned once with these after market systems on an old school car I look at them with a Jaundiced eye. Steve Wood has one installed on his SPF street car and is very happy with it. TR |
I still have the Kit Car magazine article in which Dean wrote about switching from Webers to Dynatek. Sounds great on paper.
Last year when Rokndad and I investigated purchasing a Dynatek system for an FE with everything included, Dynatek quoted somewhere around $7,000-$8,000 and wasn't negotiable. Maybe they changed their minds. Maybe the FAST system works better, but I'm looking for someone else to blaze the trail with their money first. ;) |
Steve Wood sorted out an electrical issue with my Kirkham. He's an electrical genius as far as I'm concerned. However, I don't think he has a Dynatek setup in his SPF and he definitely doesn't have an FE in his SPF.
He has built an FE for his CSX, but if I remember correctly, he was going to run a carb on it, though he may have changed his mind. |
I believe Great Asp (Eric) has a Dynatek system on his 496 FE (in his SPF). Perhaps he can chime in regarding his experiences with the system on an FE.
|
Thank you, that's the gentleman I was trying to think of, but couldn't. If you go back through his posts you'll see he wasn't 100% satisfied. I'm not sure he's 100% satisfied even today, but definitely would love to hear about his thoughts today.

I wouldn't want a nightmare EFI system. Does any stacked/webber,.... EFI company have all the bugs worked out ?

Dynaformance/DynaTek Classic Injection
Yes, I have the Dynatek injection system on my Superformance. (thanks Stentor).
http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...Asp/Beasty.jpg Mine runs great now (although I did burn out the coil recently) http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...ce03-06-09.jpg A couple of things about EFI. First, you have to get around the "Voodoo" of EFI. The system is simple to work with once you get your panties hiked up. Second, you MUST address fuel delivery. My fuel delivery was based on the stock SPF gas tank maintaining fuel to the A1000 pump which it can not. If you buy the DynaTek system, I recommend a surge area that maintains constant supply to the fuel pump. This can be done several ways. But if you have 600 hp on tap and sticky tires the gas in the tank runs away from the supply to the pump with the stock SPF tank. I now have that resolved. http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/superformance/90431-great-asps-superformance-fe-build.html Now on to the DynaTek system. They currently do not supply a turnkey system that has a FAST ECU, or a wideband O2 sensor. My system has the Pantera ECU, and it has worked great for me. Now Dynaforce is supplying an Accel ECU, and I do not know anything about it. My car starts no matter what (I just had to update the SPF start switch, but other than that), and idles without issue. Throttle response is "right now", in accel and decel, so you have to be on your toes when down shifting. Dynaformance was Dynatek. They have been through a bunch of changes, facilities and personnel. Some of the key people I worked with when we (Keith Craft and I) ordered this system are gone. Finding out the level of support, what ECU, and your ability to tune would be key if I was buying another system. The wow factor can not be beat IMO, it never fails to turn heads at any show I am at. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ehud55yBMno If you have any questions feel free to email me directly. Eric |
