Correct, if you added sticky drag slicks and dropped the hammer at 6,000rpms you could sheer the lug nuts. However, I've only heard about it once, and that was a car putting out a documented 800+ HP to the rear wheels. Most of the time the U joints would snap before the actual wheel studs would break.
