I posted this on the other thread:

From poking around it seems that the 185 lbs for a 428 is about right. The original cast iron 427 blocks are around 200 lbs. per the Genesis site. The Pond aluminum block is about 120 lbs and the Shelby aluminum block is 125 lbs. The Genesis cast iron block weighs 230 lbs.

So there's a 60 lb. difference between your Shelby and my old-school iron 428? That "supermodel on the front of your car" -- she's a bit... anorexic, no?

Besides the weight difference, assuming posted figures are correct, you should peruse the details of the both the Shelby and Pond blocks like thicker decks and oil pan rails, billet steel caps, priority main oiling (CSX), etc., uh, and it's a 427, not a 428.

Just remember, there's around a 500 pound total difference between our cars.
