What a silly thread this is. Your on a web site that is for men with cars. You know it has avatars that offend you and you consider inappropriate. You put your children in harms-way by visiting the site. You have a way to remove the offending avatars. Then you get on the web site's case for it's content.

If you go after the avatars it would be a slippery slope to analyze every photo in the gallery. If you hit refresh a couple of times, you're going to see something that may not be appropriate for kids. Simple...keep kids off the site.

Banning bouncing boob avatars is just un-American.

Tim...reading's an acquired taste, but give it a try.

As I stated in my first post, in the biggest and boldest letters I could use...go to the user options page and change your setting to exclude the showing of avatars. Everyone has that same ability. It's like changing a channel or turning off rap music.

You have a choice. It's not anybody else's fault if you fail to exercise it.

And by the way, CW created my avatar about the same time you joined here seven years ago. I think I have squatter's rights at this juncture.

Do you need more detailed instructions on how to turn off the avatars? We're here to help.

I, for one, agree about some of these avatars.
My 11 year old son walked in on me while on cc. Sure enough, there was patrickt's avatar. He asked me why some people do that to their Cobra. I wasn't quite ready to have that talk with him just yet.
They grow up so fast.

I generally try to stay out of these types of discussions, but in good conscience I too, can no longer remain silent. Similar to Rodneym, my wife looked over my shoulder the other day while I was on CC and she saw Patrick's avatar. The look on her face said it all and I was devastated. She hasn't spoken about the incident and I am still searching for the words to try and explain. I can't help but wonder how many others this has happened to.

PS: I always thought Jamo's avatar carried a nice, socially responsible anti-drug message - say no to crack!!

Why should they have to go to the user settings and turn off the avatars themselves, or god forbid, be responsible and actually watch what their children are doing and seeing? It is soooo much easier to ***** about it and blame somebody else for their shortcomings as a parent.

It's not personal Pat, but sometimes a man just has to stand up and add his voice to the chorus of those courageous brothers and sisters who are standing up against evil and crying out for what is right.

So I have to ask... was it the dogs fornicating that was so upsetting or was it the puking? I know it was horrible to watch but it was just God's precious little creatures doing what they do. Maybe it was because they were Pit Bulls and you'd all feel differently if they were Poodles. That's profiling.

So much for asking people to act like adults.

Yes, and don't forget the dual rollbars. Those are cruel and offensive too

rodneym,,,, chuckle, snort, that was funny.

Jamo's AV has a nice history to it, just wouldn't be the same around here without it. The funniest was the pic of Jamo in Brents Abarth looking for the doughnuts. That one still "cracks" me up... Or as someone once said, "Is that a cracked windshield?"

Amazing...

We have someone start a thread complaining about "avatars" and provides no link or user name. I spend an hour or so looking for an avatar with dogs humping and find nothing.

Then a couple of other folks jump on, still talking about "avatars," complaining about boobs.

Ron weighs in, asking folks to PM either one of us and to provide a link or user name. Nobody does so.

Then I explain why it would be helpful if folks would give us some info we can act on, and also advise everyone that they can shut the damn avatars off.

Then the sicko that evidently caused all of this with a humping/barfing dogs comes on to say he deleted it, but posts it in this thread. At least somebody has thought to give us info to work with, and I delete it immediately.

One poster...only one...acknowledges my information about shielding themselves from avatars, and uses it. Thank you and you're welcome.

Then we have folks start piling on about my own avatar, which has been on this site for seven years, and ignore the information I gave about blocking avatars. Take a look...most of these folks have been around for a few years but have few posts relative to their time here...which calls into question how much they have added to the site while they sit back and ask for censorship according to their own desires.

...and then we have someone pile on about some exchange he and I supposedly had some time ago about language. Truth be known, I did cut down on my language after his concern, but the poster failed to point that out...it's pile on time against a moderator now.

That doesn't bother me. What bothers me are folks who don't or can't read when a simple solution was provided. I'm even more bothered by low posters who start a thread or post complaining and then refuse to understand that this place is a community with folks of varying tastes.

Ron and I try to reach reasonable accommodations amongst you all...sometimes it's tougher to do than in other situations. But just ignoring controls or failing to read stickies and hitting us with threads like this instead of tapping the Report Post button, especially when you've been around here for years? And then not even knowing how to use your User Controls? And then not reading when it's explained? Understandable for newbies, but you know-it-alls who pronounce what they theink is right and good have several years under your belt, and you still can't read?

Guess what...our PMs get full because folks don't read first, or fail to give us info to act on, or simply want to complain about minor little things. And you complain if we don't act fast enough?

...and that's all fine...but our service to you is only as good as you make it.

Learn to read, and stop presuming your way is the best way. We don't allow full-on porn or anything that is just outright disgusting to the majority of the population here.

That's it.
