I love my Cobra had it for 4 years the only time I have been snake bitten is opening the hood latches with shorts on, if you teach your wife how to get in properly she will not get snake bit. If you stepin the car an then slide down in the seat, an do same way getting out she will not get bit, buy her some ear plugs for the noise. My wife loves riding in the Cobra does not ***** about anything

See, boys, macho isn't always better!
Should get a 289 street version. It's not as hot, pipes are under the car, it's not as loud, and let's face it-I can have as much fun on the street as you can! And my husband likes it

Are you currently looking for a boyfriend on the side perhaps?

My wife was not too crazy about riding in the Cobra. It was a white knuckle experience for her when I would crack open the throttle. I took her with me to a car show and she saw how much attention the car got. Now she wants to go with me to all the car shows and enjoys riding in the car!

I drive my cobra quite differently with my wife in the car than when she is not in the car. Otherwise she'd never ride in it.

My wife loves the car and doesn't care about garage space. She'll go for a ride anytime I care to take it out. She doesn't enjoy going to car shows where she sits in her folding USC chair after a casual stroll to look at the other cars.
The heat, sidepipes and other obnoxious things about the car don't bother her. In fact, on the freeway she goes to sleep without ear plugs. People adjacent to us on the freeway smile and laugh at the danging head drooping down. It's a hoot. Don't give up on the car. Maybe after a few trips she will fall asleep too.

I prefer driving my Cobra without anyone in the passenger seat.
I just find it more enjoyable without all the crying and empassioned pleas eminating from the passenger's seat.
If I ever get a GT40, I'll take the passenger's seat out......storage issue solved! The SO can fly to Vegas while I drive the GT40 and we'll both be happier!
Cheers!

This is also a fact. I'm quite spirited but never "out of bounds" when I'm alone, but she's not into fast acceleration and all that stuff. The FGT won't change that either.

I have had 2 dream cars in my life , the cobra and the FORD GT , I now have both of them and consider myself spoiled
They are both very different machines as I am sure you know , my wife loves to go for drives in the GT , not as much in the cobra
With the exception of a few very hardy women I find most can take or leave the cobra ( mostly leave it ) , but that does not bother me as I bought the car for me as there is no other car on the road anywhere in my opinuon that excerts the presence of raw power like the cobra does , old school all the way . you either love it or you hate it
If you can swing both cars that will give you the ultimate choice when its time to go for a drive , I would just hate to not have the cobra when making that choice
Either way good luck on your decision

Hmmm......
I think RodKnock believes that the original poster has determined that the Cobra is really just not to his liking, and he is using the ol' wifey excuse to save face. We've seen that before, but this is indeed a new twist on it.

I think a psychologist would call what said above a "projection" of one's own thoughts. Did you like your mother?
Actually, this thread, while not nearly in the same realm, has the distinct flavor of rsimones.

This is very much not the case. In fact, I'm getting up at 4:00 tomorrow morning to go to Red Rocks to take pictures, then to Cars-n-Coffee, and then on a little spin. I'll be out most of the day. I offered shopping while I hung around the cars (the Cars-n-Coffee is at a big mall with lots of stores) but she wouldn't go in the Cobra. Mustang would be OK. Oh Well. I'll be going to Vegas with it in September (coincident with, but not part of, the auction) and play around there for a week. Unfortunately I'm not up to driving it straight through 800+ miles so I'll tow it. In summary, it's the car I've always wanted, but it's just not right for "the family". She's OK with something "brutal and demonic" but it needs a few creature comforts. She even asked about the Ferrari and Aston Martin we saw at the Gateway museum, but those are too tame for me plus have their own problems. I'll stick with Ford.
There's some interesting (and funny!) observations here. But sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.
Noone suggested venting the footboxes. I've seen a few with what look like brake vent hoses cut into the top of the foot boxes. Looks practical. Drivers side might not work well because of all the clutter. Her snakebite was her first in almost two years; "just forgot".
Regarding all the suggestions of alternate Roush/DFI: None of them would have been able to do anything. All of them are at or only slightly above sea level, and with the revelation from Roush yesterday, would have said NTF. The work had to be done at altitude (or in an altitude chamber).
In any case, ain't anything happening real soon, so I'm going to enjoy it the rest of the season.
