Send me one of dem der Cammers. We'll work out da price and fitment later.

RodKnock 11-10-2010 08:43 PM

Yep, I got a PM about the Cammer(s).

Chas, at 530 lbs more than me, what's a few extra lbs added by my aluminum Trigo wheels, which you kindly would take in trade.

I would save, like, like, like, 10 lbs per wheel and they would get me under 2,100 lbs. PUH-LEEEZE.

Patrick's your best buddy? :( That just doesn't seem right.

Ron, in reading OLD threads here, I believe an early CSX4000 with all the aluminum bits (block, heads, intake, water pump, rear end, etc.) is/was about 150 +/- lbs more than a Kirkham or approximately 2,300 lbs, but you should definitely get your car weighed and give us an accurate figure since things change over time.

With a Quicktime bellhousing and the usual aluminum bits, my Kirkham weighed in at 2,128 lbs, but I need to find some magnesium Halibrand wheels. :)

Rod,

I had my #542 weighed...came in a 2068 lbs with a quarter tank of fuel. I was bit surprised and had it double checked, but accurate. Did so when adjusting suspension for my weight, etc.

As engine thread, Keith Craft has been terrific. They actually pick up the phone and talk to you...always a good start in my book.

What? Exactly 50 lbs less? No way!

I'm sure it's all related to the meatier Shelby block as contrasted to the Pond block. :p  (just kidding, take it easy).

Note to self: Must find 50 lbs to lose. On the car. Not me. :)

vnms65 11-11-2010 12:10 AM

Ha! So, how is that Shelby support group coming along? Persistent manifestations of insecurity! ;-)

This point forward, I drive with an 1/8th tank....a few more petrol stops but another 18lbs off the dial!

Cheers!

My glass CSX is a portly 2,600 lbs with iron block and heads and about 15 gal of gas.

It's a well known fact that the lighter the car the more it requires constant retorquing of the bolts due to a lack of low-density rigidity.

patrickt 11-11-2010 06:24 AM

And whatever happened to that CSX "manual" that was being written by someone on this board and that I correctly predicted would die on the vine just like it has umpteen times before....:p

The NIB 427 side oiler blocks are new warrantee blocks from the early 1970's from what I can tell so far. I have 1 of the cammer motors in a mudd bogger for sale on Craigs list. in a 1970's ford P.U. called Rat Poison. Will be wants $30,000 for the complete veh incl the rear large swamp tires. Also have used 427 std & side oiler blocks, 428 CJ blocks, medium & High Riser heads, forged cranks, Alumn 4V, dual quad & tripower intakes, etc. My friend was a real Ford racing nut. Helping him out before he died and working around all those 427 motors is what got me interested in a Cobra again. Once I get all the stuff sorted out I'll most likely post the items in the for sale forum here. Any questions, contact me. The other Bob Q.:3DSMILE:

That would be great. That way we can continue to tweak RodKnock about his SOHC motor. :D

Hmmm, I could swap the Cammer and the mudd bogger tires for my 482 and Yokohama's and call my Cobra "Snake Poison." :D

Does RodKnock have a Ford SOHC motor or one of those Dove or other brand SOHC? From what I can determine the orig Ford SOHC is more valueable and collectable. Is that correct? B.Q.

RodKnock has dreams of having any sort of SOHC motor, the more alloy the better. But as of yet, he is still unwilling to stroke the check to make his dream into reality. ;)

Maybe he also has a 'light weight' checkbook?

I can understand that completely. This is alot of money for a motor, but from what I understand Ford only made about 750 of these motors. They were outlawed the 1st time they went on a Nascar track for hotlaps. I can see why, as the stock H.P. rating was 616 if I remember out of the box. Bob Q

I had to get CSX4005LA weighed for my title/plates. It was 2600 as well. This is a carbon fiber roller but the iron in Roush 427IR in the front adds up.

That's only about 80lbs more than an all aluminum Dart.
