Having seen and read magnesium wheel runs that sputter and fizzle, I wanted to do my part in seeing that mags could get made for our 427's, SOON! I contacted Richard at Halibrand (president) and asked him how our list is going. He said that he's
close and that he's in a better position to get run made compared to last year. I asked him for answers on what I thought would be popular questions:
1. Wheels are the same sizes per originals (and Trigo) and backspacing, 15"x7.5" fronts and 15"x9.5" rears, 6 pin.
2. He will also run 5 pin (adapted) wheels. The adapters will be made of aluminum.
3. Wheels will be finished in Dow 7 (for pickling) and powdercoated gold in the centers. The lips will be machined.
4. Wheels will be coated inside for the inherent porosity issues of magnesium.
5. Wheels will say 'Halibrand' on back ONLY, per 60's originals.
6. Cost
TBD but competetive. Stay tuned.
7. Deposit is $1,250, by mid January.
