All you'd have to do is pick it up. 30% lighter is pretty noticeable.
Are you saying you don't trust Halibrand, or the folks claiming to have magnesium wheels?

No, I just want to see Chas set his wheels on fire. I vaguely remember some sort of warning that if you throw water on burning magnesium it does something peculiar -- like the oxygen and hydrogen separate or something and when the flame hits it it's pretty cool to watch.

I'm sure the military has all sorts of old FED-STD's on that stuff (what's left of them, anyways).
One of my employees takes magnesium from his friends shop and they shoot at it in the desert. He says it's pretty fun.

Love the dripping sarcasm.

Are the wheels here yet?

There's a pic here somewhere on CC of an alloy CSX4000 with magnesium wheels that turned a long time ago. I love that look.

CSX4323, but I can't capture just the pic, so here's the page:

The last time Halibrand sold magnesium Cobra wheels in 2003-2006, the fronts were $765/ea and the rears were $795/each, which is $3,120 for a set of 4.

I'm going to use the Gibbs oil product, if I ever get a set of these wheels.

You mean "when" you get a set of these wheels.

patrickt and 601HP are on the fence. A very sharp, white picket fence.

I'll remain skeptical until the wheels arrive on my doorstep.

Knowing Patrick as little as I do, I would think he's not buying the mag wheels. He's too pragmatic for magnesium and sees little to no benefit.

(Did the reverse psychology work?)

The gold hue of the centers probably wouldn't look right with his beige/titanium paint anyway.

Rodney, this is great of you to make the effort to organize a group buy. I did this once on another forum and was amazed how many people got involved when "opportunity meets price." Or, more so with this case, "Availability meets opportunity."

Having said that, I will humbly have to decline though. A quick acceleration to 3.92% would also require professional counsel for how best to manage divorce proceedings.

Well there's your problem. That 'wife' thing. She's slowing you down 3.92%.

Thanks for the kind words.

So Fran has the OEM as a competitor for his new wheel venture. Or is Fran Richard's customer too?

Fran is a competitor to Halibrand and could not have the name Halibrand embossed anywhere on his production run of wheels. Both are made by M&A castings as you probably know.

I suspect that some people don't want to be "out-ed" in public, so they're contacting Richard privately. I don't care, just want the wheels made.

Yep, I hate it when that happens.

Of course Halibrand owns their tools.
It's no secret that M&A casts Halibrand's wheels.
Pretty sure Fran uses M&A too. If not, someone inform us.
Did Fran invest in his own tool? That's the $64,000 question.

When I said people were contacting Richard, I meant interested parties. Not anything peculiar.

I'm thinking I could just spray this on my wheels.

I wasn't insinuating anything peculiar.

Yes, Fran uses M&A too. We could too (use M&A), if we wanted to be wheel tycoons.
