Limited Edition models typically don't do well from a financial perspective, judging by all the Corvette and Ferrari limited editions over the last upmteen years.
Fifity of this model is A LOT, IMHO.

Uh, it's not a Boeing 787 or whatever. If the money is there, then they should get built in 7 years. You would think.
If I just paid $135K, and I get #50, I have to wait more than 7 years? Talk about a lay-a-way plan.

If they sold 50 in a matter of a few days that would be tremendous. I doubt the combined sales of all replica Cobras even (or ever) approached that volume in the same time period. Wow - 50 cars. Just amazing. Simply unbelievable. Stupendous.
I too would be interested in the breakdown of alum. to glass cars. I wonder how we can find out. I wonder.

I agree, sounds like "all U2 tickets have been sold in 3 days".
To the final client??

The time to build them by 2018 is in reference to the GT350s...

Shelby Cobra
Yes as far as I know all 50 are sold out. Unless a few of the customers can't come up with the deposit of $35,000 for fiberglass. In that case a few more can come available. Quite Amazing overall. I worked the event and the 289 cobra for the entire Barrett Jackson event. It was the most popular and photographed car of the event. The cars were selling super fast. Absolutely stunning color combination. I think this is the single most significant car that shelby has put out in 45 years. Can't wait to get ours.

CSX 4000 series cars also brought good money at the auctions. Steven's and Ours included, CSX 4929. Overall the Event was a monster success.
Special thanks to Gary Paterson and John Lutz for all their hard work and dedication. There was a tremendous amount of work to get this car built, transported, and marketed at the event. Plus the Shelby Bash was the week before.

I was told that all of the cars have been purchased by dealers and a good portion of those have been sold to customers, but a few of the dealers still a few available. I too have been emailed by DenBeste so he has a few available and also believe that Stephen Becker has a few glass and alloy cars available too.

Forgive me for sounding dumb, but is it legal to hold a 50% deposit (on fiberglass) on something that doesn't exist and may take several years to build? Who holds the money? An escrow company?
Does each dealer have a different deposit agreement?

All Deposits are forwarded to Shelby by the dealer. In this case you needed $35,000 (half of the $70,000) to get the roller ordered on the 50th anniversary 289. Shelby will not build the car without half down to start.
Here are some pictures of the 50th Anniversary Car at Barrett Jackson 2011. Absolutely stunning.
I'm going to be finishing a number of these cars for customers with ford 289 hipo. The traditionalist build. Anyone who wants help putting it together give me a call.
Also for those who missed out. Shelby America builds the CSX 8000 series car, which is what this car is. It can be ordered in any color and option package. It just will not be a 50th anniversary car. It also will cost $10,000 less. So $60,000 for the roller in Fiberglass.
