Perhaps he is graciously letting Dan bask in the moment of victory and it is a bit premature for him to interject a comment at this time.

......,,,,,,.......,,,,,,,

OK, times up. Where's Tommy? :)

He brought us this thread and all the fun that went with it.

I heard he was counting out the payout in 1's, 5's, and 10's:LOL:

I had a real fun time this morning at Cars & Coffee with Larry, Mr007 and the rest of the Vegas Cobra guys. I'll start a new thread with pics as soon as I get them downloaded. Great bunch of guys and some real nice cars.

good read! only thing better would be to put everybody who posted in the same room (including the lv girls!) and fastforward through 2 mos. of thread....

like the never consider losing attitude by blitzforce!

should get the license plate award "no fear"! and don't forget the ferrari kill silhouette for the side of the car!

congratulations on the race win and plundering of women (in my mind).....lol

I'm trying to figure HP for the cobra but its not adding up. I thought someone said 715 FWHP. Does anyone know what exhaust he was using? 133mph sounds like mid 500s RWHP.

Most builders dyno their engines under "optimal" conditions which could virtually never be duplicated once the engine is in the Cobra. OEMs rate their engine in the cars, as installed, with a much more stringent SAE rating. You usually can peel off about 100 fwhp once the engine's in the car. It's all about sales hype and bragging rights.

mr0077 03-13-2011 07:20 AM

I thought Dan said his car dynoed at 550 HP at the wheels.

Online calculators and reality are seldom have the same results

RET_COP 03-13-2011 09:33 AM

Ok, I found what I needed, Dan did say his engine was dynoed at 550 RWHP and 650 at the FW. That makes sense.

Rickd 03-13-2011 09:52 AM

My little 331 KC Stroker dyno'd 446 at 6000 rpm at Keith Craft, and on the chassis dyno tuner we got 326...a loss of 120 hp. Using the same math you get a comfortable 595, so 550+ would sound reasonable for RWHP.

CobraEd 03-13-2011 10:23 AM

It should be about an 18% difference. Engine dynos regularly have the dials tweeked by the builders. Rear wheel dynos tend to be accurate. Your actual engine hp is around 406 which coincidently is dead on for a 331@ 6,000 rpm.

Just found this:

SP01715 03-14-2011 08:59 PM

Nice video.

Excaliber 03-14-2011 09:14 PM

Eh eh, Roller Dogs,,,, ROCK!

Well done video.

YerDugliness 03-14-2011 09:22 PM

Straight as an arrow, two runs, so consistent that there was only .01 second difference between the two.

That was not just a win, it was a "thrashing". Well done, Dan! I voted for the 458, I must admit it was a mistake (I thought I was "wrong" once, but upon further reflection I realized I was only "mistaken").

Cheers from Dugly

RodKnock 03-14-2011 09:31 PM

Thank you for the video, but the sound editing with that music is just plain awful. Sorry, but it's distracting.

CobraDan 03-15-2011 01:00 AM

After the Flag Girl I didn't see much

nshina106 03-15-2011 01:32 AM

I like the 458 better just no convertible. Will they get one, and if so when.

Rwillia4 03-15-2011 03:13 AM

Bout time we got a good video of the event. Tom you gotta love the free press

There was a guy in Toronto that held the NHRA B Modified Production record with his cobra and ran in the low 10's. Pretty sure it was the late 60s. His name was Jay Walker and his cobra was called "Jaywalker". A friend of mine used to work for him and the day I saw the car, he blew the crank doing a wheelstand in front of his gas station. And that car is what hooked me on the cobra.
