I expect to have the block back this Friday. It will be all prettied up, ready to do some grinding and drilling on it.

I have drilled and ground but I haven't drilled and tapped yet.
Walnut shelled block....hasn't been tanked. By the way, please don't tell us anymore about tickling your secretary. http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u...r/IMG_0139.jpg http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u...IMG_0141-1.jpg http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u...IMG_0142-1.jpg |
... and you are not going to tap closed the lifter gallies, correc?
|
Not going to do what? You mean plug the lifter galleys?
No, going to drill and tap the front of the block for screw-in plugs, along with drill/tap the valley plugs for screw-in plugs. Not going to plug the lifter galleys....going to leave them open so I can run EDM lifters. |
OK, I know there's a debate on the issue. Mine are plugged, but you're the boss on this build....
|
That's right.
So let me do a little educating.... EDM lifters have an oiling orifice that relies on lifter passage oil pressure. It keeps the cam lobe and lifter face oiled. So you can't close the lifter galleys off completely or that would negate the reason behind the lifters. |
I have only read good things about them. What's your time-table now?
|
I don't know. But you may want to have your secretary to lay off the reminders for a bit.

Hey, any progress is good progress.
However, I've got another 445 engine to do....13:1, solid roller race engine. Since both blocks will get billet cross bolt caps, I may have to wait until the other block is ready to machine so I can knock them both out at one time. |
It's that time again...
