Ever notice some fellow Cobra owners snubbin' ya?
It may be just me, but I don't think so. Do you ever notice how some of the other Cobra guys at a car show try to look down their noses at you once they find out you own a cobra as well?
When I'm at a show I love to check out any other Cobra's and seek out their owners. I crack up at how some of them have to ask "did you build it?" I see us as one big fraternity rather than competitors. Maybe some just get upset that they're not the only Cobra at the show.
I hate to say it, and I'll probably get flamed for it, but there seems to be a consistent attitude from the Factory Five guys. Even the ones who's cars are pretty "rough" looking.
Anyway, not trying to cause a stir, just an observation...

Actually I think you will find that kind of people at many shows no matter what kind of car you have. I have seen a couple of guys almost get into a fight because one of them was claiming the others 442 wasn't really a 442, but just a clone. The judges finally had to settle it by verifying the vin number.

I would say they are definetly in the minority. Most guys I run into are just as eager to share info and stories. Sure I have to break the ice by introducing myself. Make the first effort and I think you'll be surprised at the reaction.

There are those of us who buy/build our cars because we are true enthusiasts and enjoy the flowing, graceful lines of the body along with the heart pounding excitement of driving (racing) the car(s).
There are those who buy(build) these cars for the true status symbol that they believe they are. They do so for the wrong reasons and believe their purchase to by the only right one and everyone else who picked a different car is inferior (in their eyes). Those are the people who are the minority and not the majority......Ignore them and take the high road...........

Was it because of the pro-street look and the 6-71 blower popping through the hood?
That doesn't make sense.

I had no idea why the other owners were like that untill it was time to do a lunch time drive around the track(Laguna Seca) and they almost had a fist fight over who was going first.
After seeing all of that, I just went home.

Good one Jim!
Funny thing is I suspect I know what show he was at and know at least one of the Roadster owners at the show.
I think we have a great fraternity, and very little ego. We go on rides and have folks with other makes go most of the time. It is very interesting to most of us to hear other peoples experience with their particular make.
Some of us will be at Road Atlanta this weekend supporting a few local spec racers, and everyone is invited to come hang with us!
Frankly I don't see many of the other makes at track days, or Autocross, or even HPDE.
AtlantaCobra do you work out at the fitness place on PIB and Rogers Bridge?

I've never had any other Cobra owners snub me, just the typical crap at the car shows... You'll hear people walk up and say that it's fake. To bad, so sad... It's my fake. And I love it!
I feel sorry for the guys with a "real" Cobras who are afraid to drive them.
On the other hand, my fake, was built to drive, and I do! (In no way do I consider it fake.)
I could care less what other people say. Tho I do hate it when others apologize for not having the same thing as I have. I'd rather see a variety of Cobras, cars, etc. If we were all the same, what a boring world we'd have. I think people who feel insecure have a need to sound stupid, and they usually do.

Hey there. Nope, I don't work out at that place, but I know where you're talking about. I live just a couple miles away. Maybe we'll run into each other sometime (not literally I hope )
I didn't mean to stand back and throw any grenade's with this topic. I agree that it's certainly the exception, not the norm for these types of folks. By and large people love to ask questions and say great things and share facts about their different makes. It's just those few FFR guys - totally kidding. I've met a lot of those guys and they're great.
Would love to hook up with anyone in the North Atlanta area for a ride sometime. Can't do this weekend for a softball tournament takes priority.
Hope to see you all around over the summer!

I drove by there one day and there was a gray or dark silver Roadster parked there, thought it might be yours.
I try to post over here when we go for a ride, but don't be afraid to keep a close eye on what we are up to. We generally try to keep up to date in the Southeast forum, which is here:
http://www.ffcobra.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=25
I'm at Old Peachtree and I-85, so around the corner from you as well.

Yeah, same thing here. I get it. I think I am one of the very few Lonestars on the west coast. Its not your imagination. I actually have had my car parked else where because I am not part of the "click".
I don't care though, I am first to strike it up. Who cares, there are pleanty of nice people out there, hardcore Chevy guys wanting to switch cars with my build.
Not everyone with an F5 is like this however, some are the best in the world and have been really nice.
Just take the high road...
