Larry,

I would like to weigh my car on those same scales..does not make sense a big block would weigh less than a sm. block.

Anything stripped down on it?


I think the scales used in my case were pretty accurate since he was weighing some mustangs and even a Lightning truck and those weights looked like you would expect.

Mine was weighed on certified by the state scale. That alone should make you wonder????

It depends on what that scale was intended to weigh.

Those that use scales intended to corner weight a race car can be reasonably sure that they are accurate. The scales were designed to be accurate in the range in which a Cobra's weight falls.

Those that use scales intended to weigh loaded trucks weighing many, many tons should not be so reasonably sure. A relatively light weight Cobra is at the extreme end of their measurable range, and accuracy at the extremes is suspect, especially when comparing a few hundred pounds' difference.

It would be interesting to gather a cross section of manufacturer's Cobras and weigh them all on the same scale.

Anyone know the advertised curb weights of the original Mk 1/2 and Mk 3 Cobras?

Well Aaron, there is a pretty easy method to check that.

Before you go and weigh your car, weigh your self at home in the same outfit you leave the house. Weigh the car with and w/o you - if the scale says the same she is good. If there are 20 pounds differences - leave and look for a different scale.
Today the bathroom scales are pretty accurate.
(The same applies to corner scales, where you can put yourself on)

At Reno-Fernley during WSCB as weighed by WKW Racing my car w/o driver and full tank was LF644-RF713-LR677-RR657 for 2691 total weight. 428FE with top loader, Jag rear w/inboard brakes, scatter shield, fuel cell with skid shield etc. Ready to race with my fat a** included the weight ratio was 48.68% front & 51.32% rear.

Just curious, do any of you with those morbidly obese Cobras ( over 3,000lb) have problems spinning the tires or out accelerating most every other car on the road.
