I love it. The various comments on this thread show why it is so much fun going through the jury selection process in sexual harassment cases. Might as well just have Nancy Grace conduct a call-in poll and be done with it.

I once tried to bluff my way onto the jury for the murderer of a US customs special agent. It didn't work. For some reason they thought that I might not be completely un-biased. Can ya believe that crap? I did make it through 2 selections though!

I once got out of jury duty for a murder trial (one drug dealer wacked another for his dope), they said the trial would last 3 to 5 days and it was 2 days before deer season opened and the trial was going to go thru the weekend.......Told the lawyers I was all for the death penalty and anyone dealing drugs was automatically guilty and should get the death penalty....
They couldn't get me out the door fast enough........
BTW: it never went to trial, the guy took a plea and 30 years in the big house after the jury was seated......

This just in.....

In response to these allegations, Mr. Shelby has filed a suit against Ms. Smith for the refusal to "trade her dress" violations.

Film at 11.

Working there was so un-bareable she could only stay there for 5 years until she was fired.

They post these things because people believe anything that is printed. I hope it's all false.

If Ms Smith was in fact "raped" by one of Shelby's employees as alleged, why didn't she report the assault to the police and have them investigate and/or charge the perp?

Launching a $5 million civil suit against Shelby instead casts serious doubts on her true motives.

Agree with ya, but it's the new American way of getting something for nothing...
how often do you read about people in their 20's and 30's now claiming they were abused/victimized as young kids and suing someone for it??? How often do you see these type sexual harrasment suits filed years after the fact???? if you look hard enough, you can find this type of stuff on a daily basis...
It's also easier to prove in civil court than in criminal court!!!!!!!

The true winners in these situations are --- the lawyers!
Contingency fees only - no cost to you - are the brass ring today - forget the
merry-go-round of yesteryear. Now if only the loser had to pay legal costs I
think a lot of these frivolous law suits would be eliminated. Just sayin.

Yes - but definitely not the kind I was referring to. Different area of expertise
and not out there as a wayward leech - a la Edwards for instance. There are
some good ones out there, including my brother.

Well yeah...I'm a management-side labor and employment type bloodsucker. I fight off unionization, negotiate labor agreements, and defend against employment lawsuits, including...

...oh my gosh...sexual harassment suits. We have several of these cases at any one time. They are, without a doubt, the worst type of litigation for an employer to defend against. Win or lose, by the time the litigation ends, people are hurt emotionally on both sides. There is insurance coverage for these types of suits, but it's extremely expensive for small to medium sized employers, and many go without.

For our Aussie buds, we do not enjoy the rational approach followed in the Commonwealth, which some of my Gashole buddies (who can bite my ass...again) alluded to above...loser pays. We on the defense side do not work on contingencies...so the employer incurs the expense regardless of the outcome.

Regardless of training supervisors and employees on how to keep their damn hands off each other, etc., and how well HR carries out investigations...these type of suits are easy to file. We (defense attorneys) knock out the vast majority by sifting through obvious BS and getting those cases dismissed...you never hear about those. The cases that get past our initial hits are then subject to settlement by insurance companies or the employers if there is a probability of liability. Only a small percentage go to trial. If we win, you don't hear about it...the relatively few the plaintiffs win make it to the front page.

Sex sells.

All things considered I think Jamo should run for President during the next elections. All in favor? tin-man

Only if I get a moderator button to use on Congress.

BTW...the current President of these here United States was a union-side labor and employment attorney. We fought his firm back in the early part of this century.
