Default F1 mirrors for a Cobra?

Saw these side mirrors on a FI car in Zhuhai, are these available in the USA, has anyone installed them, if so, how well do they work on a Cobra?

Just curious.

Cheers, tin-man

First off, that's not a F1 car. F1 cars are open wheel cars.

Nice mirrors, but I think they would look out of place on a Cobra.

John, oops, mea culpa, err, I seem to have egg on my face, so what type race car is this? Up close the mirrors look real good and I could visualize them on a Cobra, thus my question.

Cheers, John AKA, tin-man.

My initial thoughts originally mirrored Silverback's. Upon further reflection however, it occurred to me that the mirrors on these open prototype racers are designed to allow rearward visibility in a low slung car with all sorts of bulges getting in the way of a normal mirror. Sort of the the same issue faced by Cobra drivers.

Sitting high on stalks, they would probably be practical. The carbon fiber ones might even be kinda sporty - especially on an all black Cobra. At the end of the day you have to decide how you think they would look on your Cobra. Here's a littlte hint.

Buzz, this is awesome and just blows me away. To me they look ok I'll investigate further. Thank you very much for turning a vision into virtual reality for me.

First mistake this year, right?

That's what I do. Save that one mistake for the end of the year.

As Buzz said, they would probably be very functional. But they would not have the 60's era look.

But that's the nice thing about kits, replicas, continuation (you get the idea) cars. You get to customize them to suit what you want.

John, that car is an ORECA FLM09, an LMPC class car in the Le Mans series. Maybe you can contact Oreca and ask them where you can get some. They also make carbon versions of these. I can't remember the name of the US supplier.

Oreca - The motorsport company

Check out Pegasus racing parts in Wisconsin. They sell various models of this mirror, bigger ones for sedans and smaller ones for Formula cars.

I use a pair of them on my GT40 and they work well, although I think they are not that nice looking on a Cobra.
