I am probably going to get flamed for this but here go's anyway.

I have used lock washers all of my life and I do not plan on stopping anytime soon. I have "never" had a bolt come loose that had a lock washer on it. As long as they still work for me I will keep using them.

Me too. I grew up on a farm and the lock washers never failed.

We also used safety wires on some tractor parts. Never had either fail.

Me too until I discovered Loctite,now use it almost exclusively.Exceptions tractors and farm equipment,and certain other places where a locknut seems to work better.Experience has taught me all I need to know.
