Compression force reasonably light, just enough for support when extended. The thing I like is that hood and trunk lid are 'level' when open. My car from ERA had single side support arms that resulted in non-support side sag ( about an inch or so, but definitely disturbing to those afflicted with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder ). Unfortunately, congenital for me, but I do pay attention to the details. Old term is perfectionist, but as a cardiac surgeon my patients appreciate it.
