joyridin' I did an internal swap of carriers to a 30 spline setup. Jeep Dana rears are the same housing as a Dana 44. The differents is the bolt spacing and threads into the ring gears. The rest is setup the same way. If you are going to be hard on the car like racing, go to the 30 spline carrier and what gear you want. Mark Williams sells the 30 spline stub shafts out of the center section. These are good for about 700HP. Also add a rear cover support to control cap walking of the rear. his is also in the 4 wheel drive mags. Summit and LPM makes them. Need to have a new vent tube for the cover. Been running same rearend for 14 years with a locker, no problems. I side note, setup the back lash tight to stop gear crash and breaking parts. .007" -.010" is spec. I run at .003" Just enough for heat expandsion. How smooth you drive will tell how long the rearend will hold up to abuse. Softness of tires are also a MAJOR factor of rearend life. I run a 200 wear Pilot for street class. That's the limit. If you want to do burn out to impress the friends, add a water kit and bars to spray the rear tires and help save the drivetrain. Rick L.
