Thanks Earl. I have no problem with "fakey-do's" being relegated to back of the line. That's what happened in 2003...

As a "first Timer" to this event I would appericate some suggestions on what to see and what to miss during the week. I'm there the 15th-20th. I hope to put a few faces to the CC names while I'm there too. Is there a Plan?
Concorsa Italiano & Pebble Beach are on my short list of things to do. I considered the Quail but it's a little $$$$ and I've heard mixed reviews. Does AMTRAK still have car carriers on their trains?...Hmmmmm...
Thanks,

In addition to the historic racing at Laguna Seca, my personal favorites are 1) Hot Rod night at Baja Cantina (Thursday night) and 2) Pacific Grove Rally (Friday late afternoon).

Blas,
No plans or schedules other than the track on Saturday, intentionally. Too hard to get everyone to agree on all the different stuff going on during "car week" on the peninsula. Whoever shows, shows, at the major stuff. You have the main ones listed. In addtion to Laguna Saturday or Sunday, I too like doing Concorso Italiano on Friday and the foo foo PB/Concours DeElegance on Sunday every few years or so; get to see prototype stuff there at the Lodge out front. As others have listed a few, there is Ocean Ave on Thursday and doing the Pacific Grove show is fun too or just walk through it.
And, don't forget the RM and other car auctions or just walking around Friday and Saturday nights in downtown Monterey. You can peer through the fences at some stuff if you don't want to pay to go in, or if you just want to be in/around the happenings going on. Should be a pretty good buzz going on this year each night in Monterey!
We might even do a run of CC shirts just for grins so we can pick each other out. More on that later...

Assactly.
BTW, I do not intend to get kicked out again due to my foot slipping off the clutch pedal below the Flag Room...

Another tad bit of information, again not set in stone. The total number of cars being allowed out on the track for parade laps, I believe is 200 due to time constraints. Remember there are races going on.
The real hassle is getting out of the Laguna paddock, and into the hot lane, and then go two cars abreast immediately. Getting folks to understand that and pull it off in an orderly manner will be the challenge for SA, Norcal SAAC and Laguna track folks. From what I understood there will be stickers for the windshield indicating approval for parade laps. Again to control time and lessen confusion as to who goes and who doesn’t. Show up late and think you’re just going to jump in. I think not.
Anyway as details solidify (it’s still early), I’ll periodically update. I think it wise to let you guys know this earlier to minimize any disappointment.
Cheers,
~Earl J

Any word on parking? Sounded like Mike was trying to get some corral space for the BACC.
Guessing that there will be enough original and replica Cobras to stretch around the entire track.

Hmmm... Seems that the bad news may be that us with "fakey-do's" may not be able to participate in the parade laps, however the good news may be that there will be 200 Originals for us to drool on

Earl,
I think the real question was more about the outstanding corral parking communication and coordination with the clubs than parade laps.

I'll be there Saturday. Corral parking = drive the Cobra. No corral = take daily driver. Guessing that the Corral parking will be in the dust bowl due to big demand and limited real estate.

40 years go I made the mistake of parking behind turn 9 for a Can Am race. At the end of the day, I had a 1/4 inch of dirt on my car. What a pisser.

Update on Corral, status...
Cobra Parking "CORRAL UPDATE":
Great news. Just got a helpful message from the folks in charge regarding coordination of the Corral this year at Laguna. I let them all know we appreciate the update, which helps folks make a more informed decision about attending this year or not, and with or without their Cobras. A very positive update is what I can pass along. No worries, the coordinator has it well under control and asked us to stay tuned. Check back here or on the first post every month as we get closer to Monterey at Laguna in August.
Here is a summary of the message received today:
- Still in the planning stages, everyone is on the same page..
- Laguna is very excited. Wants to make this the "best Reunion show ever".
- There are several entries in the Cobra race already.
- They are pleased with communications and interest between clubs, groups.
- "still working out when tickets will go on sale, and how to purchase".
- "plenty of room in the Corral", " can't foresee anyone being left out".
- "any parade laps will be a Cobra only". Saturday for sure, Sunday maybe.
- Stay Tuned. More information out as it becomes available.
... you might see an update here later on from the coordinator himself.

Thought I'd check the Norcal SAAC site tonight to see if there was any update regarding corral parking.
50th Cobra Reunion
"I do not foresee any problems with space, SCRAMP is working with us to open up more parking area as needed. The Corral will be open to all Shelby American products including replicas, as well as Ford products of the performance variety (Ford will have a display near the Corral and is supporting the mission also). Original Cobras will be displayed front and center, of course, with space for other original Shelby American products, continuations and replicas.
Sales of tickets and Corral passes will be through the Nor Cal SAAC website.* Mazda Laguna Seca will be having their website direct people to out website if they want Corral passes.* We will be opening sales soon hopefully."

I'm going to try for just SATURDAY. If it's insane as I've heard, I'll probably end up driving down to Monterey by 5:00AM to get in line. I don't relish the uphill in bumper to bumper.

Good Idea. I need to do some research on the dates and locations. Seams like a lot of people only go to the track event on Saturday. I had planned to do a 3 day thing at the track. Out here, the Sunday races are usually not the day to walk around and talk to owners and drivers. Most want to do their race, pack up and go home. Probably the same out there? I would guess Friday is the day to attend other events rather than the track?
