Question electric fuelpump question?

i have a fuel safe fuel cell in my ffr, i am currently running efi on my 342, i am instsalling a new 445 fe and will be running a carb. my efi pump puts out 75 gph, i looked on fuel safes site there low volume pump only puts out 35 gph
will this pump be sufficient for my needs?. i dont want to switch to a external
am i locked in with what fuel safe sells or are there any other alternatives?.

I'm not sure you can regulate 35 psi down to the 6 psi you need for a carb. You might try to find a pump for a throttle body application. They are for around 15 psi and can be regulated to what you need.

i have ran same electric pump and bypass setup on an efi and carb with no problems, just had to change springs in the bypass to be able to let more bypass to get to the carb pressure i wanted, or you can cut the spring.

the 35 is gallons per hour, the pump is low pressure of 3-5 psi. i wasnt sure if the 35 gph was sufficient?, but i dont think i could even burn 35 gallons in one hour.

Are you sure of the 35 GPH?

these are my thoughts....i run a carb, actually 2 of them. i maintain a 5.5 to 6 psi with them.
with that being said a pump with only 35 gph may have delivery problems under hard acceleration, i say this because my mallory is rated at 140 GPH.

pumps that....lets say are a bit whimpier, flow in the 60 to 75 GPH range tend to run out of fuel for me with sustained acceleration using a 1\2 inch line and trying to overcome inertia pumping from the rear of the vehicle.

Question

i read the specs off the fuel safe website?, it souns kind of weak but i dont think fuelsafe would sell a wimpy pump?. i have a aeromtive efi regulator which wont go down that low, i wanted to keep it nice and simple and just use a low pressure internal regulated pump.

when i built my 445 i did not intend to run a mechanical pump so i never installed a eccentric on the cam?.

You missed the point. You should have an electric that pumps at least 120 gph which would match what everyone has on FE's with the Carter. I have a Holley red electric which is rated 97 gph feeding that Carter mechinical.
Your 75 gph is inadequate.

First figure out what your horsepower level is or where you hope it is. Let's just say it's 500 multiplied by .6 Lbs per HP per hour = 300 Lbs per hour. Divide that by 6.1 Lbs per gallon of gasoline = 49.18 Gal per hour, BUT that has to be measured after the regulator at the carb inlet. The difference between what the pump is rated at and what comes out the other end depends on plumbing, bends, restrictions such as 90° elbows, line size, filter(s) and regulator style. 110 GPH can disappear fast on a poorly designed fuel system.

So to answer your first question, 35GPH will never feed your motor unless it was a Briggs and Stratton. HTH

Question

i dont understand why fuel safe has 2 pumps and both are 2 small these are expensive bladder cells you would think they would have a better option?.
i found out that aeromotive has a new stealth intankm pump, some one told me they think they just came out with a low pressure one i have a e mail into them.

Your current pumps puts out 75 gph at 45psi. Probably a bit more at 7psi.

The fuel pump does not control the fuel pressure - the fuel pressure regulator does. You can use the pump you have now, just replace the regulater with a return style low pressure part, and all will be well.

You'll still have a return style fuel system. IMO, that's a good thing.
