Another book worth reading is "Go Like Hell: Ford, Ferrari, and Their Battle for Speed and Glory at Le Mans" by A.J. Baime. Only a little bit about the Cobra and Daytona Coupe since it is mostly about the Ford GT40 program. But it puts a lot of Shelby's motivations into perspective.
