Default What Make is This Boss Assembly?

Hi everyone! My first post for my less then one week old owned Cobra! I'm trying to track down the make of this boss and to see where I can order a new one. The center spacer in this one is worn out and so there is a lot of play in the steering wheel. Thanks!

Also, what is a great high performance shock to put into it? They are shot on and it have no resistance or bounce.

Thanks! I'll add my pics when I get it all cleaned up and up to my standard!

First, welcome to Club Cobra.

You might want to contact the car manufacture. Did you get a manual with your car? If not, I would get one. That will help with a bunch of other information that you might need in the future.

Who is the manufacture of your car?
When was it built?
Put some spec's up. We are all ooglers (sp) here. Don't worry about getting it up to your standards before posting pictures. We like all pictures. Even before and afters.

If there is enough material there take it to a machinist and have a bushing made for it .

Thanks, Terry and Bill! I'll post what I found out in case someone else comes along looking for answers for the same parts.

I tracked it down and was able to find out some history on this. This is a custom-made boss assembly by Shell Valley Companies for all kits made prior to 2010. This boss assembly is DISCONTINUED and no longer available for purchase. They no longer make this part because of the issues: The key pin and/or bushing wears out and cause play in the steering wheel. You will have to change the steering wheel shaft and the steering wheel.

This is an 1 1/2 inch steering wheel shaft so make sure your new shaft is 1 1/2 inches too or you'll have to drill out a larger hole in the dash and do a bit of customization to make it fit. The good news is you can put a spline boss in and fix the play in the steering wheel. This part fits onto a threaded rod and has a key pin to hold it in place.

I'm working on getting my photos up but the upload feature keeps freezing on me. I promise to get them up. The previous owner did like many others - put a lot of money into performance but neglected the minor details. It runs great and I can handle this kind of stuff!~

I am in the process of finishing an older Shell Valley (third owner). It came with a steering column that I will not use. I will upgrade to something better.

If you are interested I will make you a good deal.
