Reading online, I read that a date code is cast in the block on the bottom, drivers side front ahead of the oil pan. Sounds a little funny to me but maybe a place to check.
I think it should be a C or D followed by a number.

Keep in mind that men have given their lives trying figure out FE block numbers!
