Now you need one of my trick 9" air cleaner setups. See Mickmate's site for one and give that thing some breathing room!

What's with the fuel line to the front carb bowl? Looks like some sort of silver hose or section of pipe on it compared to the rear one.

Yes, it's different. It used to be this until I polished off the red/blue.

Well now this part from K&N looks pretty cool, and it's under a C-Note as well.

That's the complete turn-key package, including the custom low-profile base, 9" K&N filter, 9" K&N Extreme top and Quik-Latch assembly. Add it all up, including the metal spinning, machining and fab of the custom base and the modification to the Extreme top (we fly-cut the recess to fit the Quick-Latch nice and flush). It's not a bad deal.
Search the message thread. There is one pic here in this thread of a happy customer's installation:

I think I'll pick up that nice K&N lid, which only comes in black, and then touch it up to it looks like unpolished aluminum. I don't need the Quick-Latch or anything else though. Want me to post pics when I do it?

Yes. Just be aware that the Extreme top smallest size is 9", which started me on my journey. That 8" Stellings was choking my motor IMHO.
9" will still fit in your turkey pan, but then you need a 9" base, and all the commercially available ones will raise your filter height by 1" or so, which in turn reduces the filter height you can use (trust me, I have a whole garage of them while searching far and wide). Hence the low-profile base I came up with, thus allowing the 9"x2" filter and the top and lots of air while still letting you get to your float adjusters. Not sure what kind of hood clearance you have. Some folks that have used it have gotten away with 2.25" and 2.75". Not trying to be a sales guy here. Just sharing what I have learned. The K&N Extreme top you need is #66-0901.
Good luck Patrick!

OK, I bought it and it's on its way. Here is a shot showing the clearance under my hood as taken through the scoop. There is a wooden ruler sitting on the chrome filter top, and on top of that is a roll of black electrical tape. Blue painters tape is on the hood so you can see it better. The combination of the ruler and tape is exactly 7/8 of an inch and everything just barely touches the hood and the hood latches with them there. So my current top free space, when nothing is torquing over, is 7/8 inch. I currently have the K&N E-2570 filter, which is 1.875 inches high. I have the K&N master list and I see that I can go higher, or lower, depending on where that new top sits. I don't think I'm fond of the black look, but I won't know until I see it. I think I will try and make it appear to be unpolished aluminum. After doing my wheels, a filter top should be a piece of cake. One interesting point. I flipped my current lid over, and it seemed, maybe, to gain about a quarter inch in clearance over putting it right side up. There's a pic below. I actually like the look of unfinished aluminum more than the chrome side. Of course, I don't want the new lid to be jammed right up against the hood, but it will increase air flow over what I have now regardless.
