I will be having a written trivia quiz again where you can just drop off your answers when finished and enjoy the cars. I'm trying to find some nice prizes that I have stored away. I have some old Motor Trend Mags signed by Shelby and owners of Cobras, 2 comedy albums signed by comedian Bill Cosby 200 MPH(you know about the 427 SuperSnake), lots of decals for the kids(or anyone else interested), copies of vintage photos that I bought from Ford(when they opened the archives up), and some surprises like a signed mounted AC steering wheel documented from a wrecked early 289 Cobra. For you drag racing cobra fans I have some decals recreated from an original DragonSnake decal. I will have a few on hand. I will also have some re-created press kits that I acquired from Ford years ago. Some are GT-40, some Mustang and Cobra. I have made rough copies of a press kit given to my grandfather back in the sixties from Shelby PR man Don Rabbitt. I made 100 copies at local copy shop for those interested. I might find my April 1966 issues of Motor Trend featuring Harrah's Automobile collection of over 1000 cars. Maybe try the $100 bill reach and grab test. I never tried it myself. Oh I forgot to add years ago I bought out a supply of factory front license plate hinges for the 427 Cobra that make your front plate go horizoneal (hidden) when going faster than 35 mph. These are same ones from the factory. Free if you have a 427 at the show. FYI I'm not selling anything please don't ask. Things I mentioned might be for prizes or give aways. Feel free to ask me any questions I always have time to explain what I can. I also will be having some friends from US Navy (Naval Special Warfare Command) coming up to help me and giving them some much deserved R & R. Please thank them for their military service if you get the chance. |
Military

for us. I attended some shooting courses (rifle and hand gun) over the years, one was taught by a former SEAL, a really great guy and the toughest individual I have ever known. He told me what class he was in Bud? but I have forgotten now. I do remember that he resigned rather than have Bill Clinton as his ultimate commander and chief. I do what I can whenever I can to thank the military for their service. The Willow event is not a race, it is just a really fun day for people to take their Ford powered vehicles out for a fast drive on a very fast track. I quit racing in 1980 but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy the occasional track day. |
We will be heading to the Coronado Speed Event in September. Fun why to support the Navy and Marines. I am X Naval Air 1961-65. " Go Navy "

3170,
With all due respect to you, I agree that calling the 13/14 GT-500 a POS is over the top. In my opinion, you have to keep in mind what the car is and what it is not. It is not a race car. [b]It is a street car in every sense of the word. Seats 4 in comfort, carries a ****load of luggage and loafs along on the freeway at 80 MPH turning 1400 RPM getting 23 + MPG. The build quality of the car is outstanding; the power train technology is unbelievable. (8 different stages of launch control , suspension and stability control selectable from the cockpit). It also has unbelievable power and even more unbelievable brakes. Will go 10 seconds in the 1/4 (with DR's mounted) and even at 3800 lbs and narrow tires, does a respectable job getting around a road course. Comparisons to the Ford GT is really just stupid as the 2 are totally different vehicles for totally different markets. The only legitimate comparison of the 2 is that the power plant shares the same DNA; only the GT-500 motor is bigger, more refined and more technologically advanced. How do I know? I happen to own 2 of them. For a STREET car, the performance of the thing is astounding. For a base price of around 60K out the door, there is no comparison. GRUFF |
Shelby Mustang

and I stand by my statement. I would actually prefer an Boss Mustang over the Shelby version because of it's handling advantage, of course I am not a drag racer or a top speed addict. Compared to other cars in that price range the Shelby is not a POS it's all in the context. |

went to a local car show last night crystal point in Point Pleasant New Jersey.
and there was a continuation aluminum body CSX 42?? there. I must say without a doubt it was the most realistic appearing 427 SC I have ever seen I could not find the owner while I was there, the body was neither brushed or polished or painted it appear to be roughed up with a DA all of the aluminum and then just cleared.I would guess the car is about 10-15 years old and it looked like it was never cleaned it had so much of a patina on it almost had a rat rod appearance but it did look excellent all in all.one thing I did not understand the base of the shift lever was offset almost into the driver .seat. |

As to the Registry, I would definitely suggest you register your eligible Cobras etc..for many reasons. As to the advice to never buy a "copy" ... I didn't. I bought a genuine Shelby Cobra of the continuation series/ vintage. What may not be collectible or vintage today is certainly subject to change over the years. Again, we love pics. Post some! Cheers. |

The word copy with collector cars was not really directed toward you. Oh the registry rofl if you want to know I will let you know why not for my family since the 1950's via PM. I tried to explain on your other post about guitars, drums, copies ...and all that but forget about it. I actually thought I had more with the cobra name in it. I guess Cobra powered or cobra jet does not count. I guess I thought I had more than one but that's the answer torino cobra. And please don't tell me that those are listed in Cobra Registry. |

OnyxRider...Brian's a fun guy...several of us have spent time with him in California and Florida through a teammate of his. Got me a ride in Thunder Guts around the Historics paddock and learned how to pronounce fok correctly. Good guy...part of the group doing stuff to honor JPJr a bit.

at airport waiting for my flight and I started reading this thread... and I had a flashback to my days at USC business school. One of my favorite professors wrote on the board, "The best criminals don't rob you with a gun or violence; the true master criminal robs you with hugs and kisses."
CSX rollers starting at $160K for a 60 year old car design?... must have been plenty of hugs and kisses at the showroom. |
NYG - take a stroll into the showroom, and take one for a test drive. You'll want one. No hugs or kisses necessary. BTW - they'll sell every single one that they make - at full price.
You can drive a stick can't you?:MECOOL: |
