I think it all started out sometime in the 1980s with some continuation 1966 GT350 convertibles.

Don't forget the Shelby Dodges. Wasn't there an open wheel Dodge track car for a beginner's race series?

And then there were the SAAC Mustangs.

Continuation Daytona Coupes and Completion 427 S/Cs built by McCluskey.

Shelby authorized Eleanor Mustangs.

I'm sure thats just the tip of the iceberg.

I don't recall the SAAC Mustangs at all.

I'm not 100% certain, since I don't have my registry in front of me, but I don't believe the SAAC Mustangs were authorized by Shelby. They were built and sold by SAAC.

And one more for Shelby: Shelby Series 1.

$650,000? Maybe they meant $65,000? Probably not.

Where do you think Shelby got the idea of building late model "Shelby" Mustangs
