Oil is kind of a personal thing but in all my FE engines I have ran Castroil 20 X 50. I also like to run Accel 416 spark plugs and gap them at about .00329/.0035. the original spark plugs were Motorcraft BF 32. I am told the BF 42 is a substiturte but it is a much hotter plug and can cause some detonation problems and possibly cause your coil to fail.

My 1968 Cougar had W code 427 and BF 32 Autolite spark plugs. I poked around in town and it ran better with BF42 plugs. If you have electronic ignition, either should work. My old FE had points. Oil is so much better, I would not recommend anything. There were no synthetics 40 years ago. Everybody, including me, wants zinc and phosphorus.
