Reading the latest Car Craft comparing four of the latest TBI stand alone systems and a 950cfm Holley carb all five were in the same ball park for mpg on a 496ci BB Chev mule

Maybe GM thought about mpg when they developed the 496 truck engine but I doubt that anyone building the typical hot rod 496 (which is a different bore x stroke combo) really gives any thought to it. I am very happy with the performance of my ProSystems carb but it is limited on those occasions when I'm on a cruise where I change elevation several thousand feet. FI can make that type of adjustment and maintain superior performance without needing to make mechanical adjustments. Just my 2¢ worth. BTW I'm not changing.
