One roll hoop or two?

Looking to buy a cobra and I've always had one roll hoop, the car I'm looking at has two and for some reason it bothers me?

Thoughts? Originality?

If you have a "significant other" they will feel that you don't care about their safety if they don't have a rollbar.
If you want to track it and have to start from scratch and have an instructor ride with you, they won't do it w/o a roll bar on their side .
If you don't have to deal with either of the above, then one is all you need.
And they are not just for looks, I have seen a few shiney side down !

Ted
ps: I am planning to add one to the pass side or go with one full width for both reasons stated above.

When I bought my wife this 911 she never asked "does it have a roll bar honey?"
Still today, she don't know that car really has.;)

However, if you are so concerned about your wife - then let her NEVER in the passenger seat of a Cobra.

"hey look hon, it's ok it has two hoops - just hop in"..... little hypocritical - don't ya think?

I would if it had 2 separate bars. I wouldn't if it had one huge one that went from the drivers side to the passenger side.

I'm going thru the samething, that and the lack of knock- offs

Buy whatever you like.

Some will like it, some won't, no matter what you get.

Sorry guys!

I am an experienced track guy and just don't like the look of two.

patrickt 02-10-2014 10:39 AM

True but there was no poll associated with that thread and I'm interested in the percentages.

Similar to other important debates of our day, Keystone Pipeline, gun control, abortion, net neutrality, legalizing marijuana, etc., the debate over the roll bar question will rage on and divides America.

You're just going to have to make a decision, because we can't make it for you. ;)

As you would expect, the poll will roughly break down to 50/50. Surprise! **)

And you've always had an easy time making them up. :D

At the end of the day, are you really going the way of the pole?

Dominik 02-10-2014 11:50 AM

Single bar. Drive slowly if you have a passenger...

I said earlier, get whatever you like. If you're tracking the car, that may affect your decision. But I don't think a poll here will help you on the track.

Mine is set up mostly for track so I went with a full width bar and high back seats. Also did a tilt front so access to the engine compartment and front suspension is much better.

It's my car and I built it the way I wanted it. Sure, some people don't like it but I'm fine with that. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

I hear the new Corvette would make an excellent track car.

Murphy's Law dictates that if you're involved in an accident and you have one roll bar, it will be a roll-over. If you have two roll bars, you'll get rear-ended and both get concussions from smacking the roll bars.
