Care? No!

Don't forget the insurance aspect of this, some insurance companies give a big break on premiums if you claim to be a part time driver under 5K miles a year - that's a built in gas limiter right there. Btw, if you think they don't check your mileage think again, I've been called a couple of times to bring my SRT4 in for a mileage check.

I never worry about the cost of fuel with my play cars.

I don't drive them far enough for the price of gas to matter much. If my budget were that tight, I'd sell the car.

The only thing I worry about is finding a gas station before I have to get out and push.

So true on all 3 points!!! When I had the Cobra and now the Ford GT I figure that I need to be with range of a gas station at about 200 miles. It helps when you've got a bad back to have to stop frequently. It's not exactly conducive to a road trip across the barren I70 through Utah.

To sum it up, the perfect caption for a photo of a Cobra at a gas station would be "Cobra in it's natural habitat"

If that bothers you, then you should really think it through.

Our gas prices are higher than most out here in California but I don't worry about them. The car is just too much fun to worry about the price of gas AND everything else we put on or in the car is more expensive too. Just part of the experience but a good one!!

If you're driving your Cobra 2,000 miles per year, get 10/mpg at $5/gallon (nearly that here in the Bay Area for supreme), then we're talking about $1,000/year. And if you're going to drive a fun sports car anyway, then likely 50% +/- of that $1,000/year or $500 is really the true difference.

That's small potatoes in terms of sports car ownership.

No budget. I don't like when my debit card max's out at $75 though. Its a pain to have to pull the card out to swipe again at the pump.

Someone posted here a number of years ago... don't remember who, but it has stuck with me ever since. "It's not the miles per gallon, but the smiles per mile."
If ya can't afford the gas, ya got no business with a cobra!

That's like asking if the US Gov't worries about paying $595.00 for a hammer, and $1200 for a toilet!

That question would only be asked by someone who has not yet owned one, for once you own one it's no longer a concern.

Wanted to add, what it becomes is more of a concern of range... Get 30 of these out together for a sprint and watch the stress of the 4 speed big block owners... Heehee...

Ward,

The race fuel that I buy is 110 leaded and has no alcohol. We can also get 93 unleaded with no alcohol here.

I'm subscribing because I wasn't sure the question was meant towards the Cobra...LOL.. When I fill up I don't even look at what the pump says price wise. I'm having so much fun I don't care...

I run the Sunoco 260GTX - the same fuel what NASHCAR uses in all cars. This is pure gasoline, no additives nothing in there. You spill this on the floor it vaporizes without a stain. I put money and a ton of work in my motor and I like this engine clean especially on the inside. I run this gas for years on lawn movers, chain saws, generators and last but not least on my RC engines 35, 50, 85 and 100cc. You have to see the difference between two engines with the same run time, with "regular" and that GTX260.

Some local Vette guys fueled probes from different gas stations and sent that to a lab because of problems with the old fuel injected motors. The highest ethanol content was !!!!!!!!32% - all these guys do not fuel pump gas anymore. Most run Aviation gas.

Pump gas is just bad for the motor - period.

i wish we were only paying $3.79 a gallon this side of the pond

Even with our prices of £1.38/litre (appx $10/gallon - UK gallon slightly larger than US i believe) it's still the smiles per mile that counts - fuels costs are forgotten especially when sun is shining and you have a few mates in a convoy - it's all good
