I kind of agree. Every year I find myself driving the Cobra slower and slower... with only the occasional high-spirited moment. I'm at the point now where I enjoy driving the car, say on a beautiful parkway, under the speed limit even more than over. We did that this morning, in fact. Very few cars on the road because of the holiday, and we took a slow, relaxing parkway cruise. Delightful.
When my son (29) and I are out driving in the Cobra on a nice country road, I periodically comment, that even if the car only had 190 horsepower, it would still be a nice great looking fun to drive sports car.

I saw this coming. It wasn't a race , it wasn't high speed, it was merely a snap of acceleration. It was also on an open highway. I drive 40k miles a year for over 14 years no accidents. I'm not an asshole with a hot rod. Both guys appreciated what they saw and everyone was all smiles. I don't race kids with mustangs and WRXs, the opportunities are there every day.
I was just sharing the experience as it is impressive what the cobra can do. Kinda like being proud if your son when he scores a goal.
I'll be fine. I doubt what your friends did was similar to this.
