For 2,000-ish miles, the car seems a bit more worn than I'd expect. And I don't think the builder was interested in originality when assembling CSX4145. The fuel fittings are annoying as are the bumpers on an S/C car. And removing the POS BFG TA's would be the first order of business. A few other items that I'd change as well.

Totally agree with all that you stated. My thoughts are that it had a speedometer failure/replacement 2,000-ish miles ago.
BTW, the buyer is already bragging on that GT Forum thread that he has bought the car. But, hey, if he paid $130K for an all alloy "CSX", I believe that will be viewed as well bought in 3-5 years. That would also give him enough time to fix many of the details and rejuvenate that exterior and interior.

Wow, kind of a snarky bunch on this forum, huh?
I am soon to be the new owner of CSX 4145. I signed up for an account here a few days ago in hopes of garnering some info from you folks, to better learn about this car. Unfortunately, there was quite a delay in activating my account, and I wasn't able to post until today.
I'm not sure how what I typed on the Ford GT Forum would be construed as "bragging". This is what I said there:

Well, looks like I will soon be the new owner of CSX #4145. The car is not perfect and needs some minor sorting, but perfect for me since I plan to drive the car some, and there's no sense paying top-dollar for a pristine car that I would be afraid to use. I think an aluminum-body CSX with all-aluminum Shelby 427 will probably do fine value-wise over time, especially for what I paid for it.
Many, MANY thanks go out to Sinovac here, who was gracious enough to check out the car in detail today and take it for a spin. I appreciate the detailed report! Now at least I know what I am dealing with, and this allowed me to be much more comfortable in making the decision to purchase, and what I was willing to pay. Sinovac is obviously quite knowledgeable on Cobras also. Thank you also to everybody else, above, who helped me out with advice. I have a lot of learning to do about every facet of my new toy. I'll try to soak it all in, like I did with the FGT over a year ago. Time to order some books and spend countless hours on the Cobra forums now...

Welcome aboard CC for however long you are here. I'll show you to your room in steerage with all the other CSX owners here. Been a Shelby Cobra owner for 13 years and around here for about the same time.
Dealing with "snarkyness" is a good day for a CSX owner here.
Congrats on your purchase. Fantastic buy even if the car needs some "loving" and work.
If you decide to stick around pick up a SAAC Registry. Kind of like garlic is to vampires with the sour grapes bunch here. Just cite the Registry when appropriate. You will learn what I mean if you are here long enough. They hate that.
If I can help with anything let me know.
BTW I am also an FGT owner and a member on the FGT forum.
Congrats and don't let anyone one here knock what you own. This place is not as warm and fuzzy as the FGTforum.

Perhaps I can help since I am a member of both forums. The Ford GT forum is not diverse at all because most people on the forum own identical cars and all love them. They show pictures of their cars or by a new one or go fast in a top speed event and get nothing but praise from other members.
There is almost never any descent because they all think alike.
This forum is made up of a very diverse group of people with different cars, different engines, different interests and many have strong opinions regarding their particular views. The thing I find refreshing here is people tell it like it is with no sugar coating. If you are full of beans it will be pointed out quickly, if you are dispensing incorrect information that will be pointed out too. Some times things get a little out of hand but the moderators take care of that quickly. There is a wealth of information here on just about any car subject you can think of and members will gladly share their knowledge. The Ford GT site can be a bit boring at times but it is also very civil and BS goes unchallenged in most instances. It is really your choice do you want good information, highly entertaining debates or civil discussions with no disagreement.

I didn't know what handle you were going to use but I did send Jamo your location to expedite the normal protocols for membership. I see that a member did look at your new Cobra. I was trying to see if you were getting some type of pre-inspection before purchase. I tried to log into my old FordGT account but no success. Once in awhile I have to take the broom out and clear the place but these guys do know their various Cobra builds and have a great expertise in this area. Just watch out for bible thumping err I mean registry thumping members. Only kidding.
Was that crazy plum challenger color offered at the time or was it a custom order?(convertible) These guys are sick of hearing it but my sister had a '70 crazy plum Challenger and it was stolen and taken to the west coast and used in a bank heist in the '70's. They knew a fast heavy car. One of my guys is in contact with GM Heritage and trying to cut through the red tape for a plum crazy hellcat commissioned unit. Previously before the hellcat version I wasn't interested. I didn't see that color in the build intel. Someone has a 1000hp monster posted on the GT site.
Just post some high end very complicated watch news for Jamo because he enjoys that kind of thing.
And enjoy the ride hope your children don't fight over who rides in it. Ever since I had twin almost 11 years ago anything that I wanted to collect I had to purchase two. Luckily until recently there hasn't been much to collect.

I don't know seems like a lot of good guys that enjoy their cars over there. I like the thread "Other Cars" and think this place could use that. I would fill it up with all the supercar intel you never hear about. The LaFerrari XX has had 3 fires during testing of its prototype. Strange that there have already been two small fires on production models. This comes straight from the factory.

Yeah, that was a poor choice of words by me. Please accept my apologies. If I had just scored an all alloy CSX for what we believe was paid for it, I'd be posting about it, too. Those are all things that may have been changed by subsequent owners. But I agree- some inconsistencies in the philosophy and history of the car need to be addressed.
