Yes
When I first got the car, I saw the 289 gas cap on the front fender and I thought that it had a 2nd fuel tank in the engine. Lol

I thought that it would make a great road trip car like the Griswald's had in Family Vacation

Big fan of CF.
This is correct as far as I know. When I got mine there were 6 carbon fiber cars, but there may have been one or two more after that. The registry would know for sure. VIN numbers don't matter - they were two assigned in the LA series so they were low looking but built late. The whole LA sequence is a story in its own right.

Wait you guys are always talking about buying a registry how about this book for the colors?

Shelby Cobra: Shelby American Original Color Archives Book

My registry is in Abu Dhabi some where so here goes a memory test I might get 427 & 289 mixed up though. Hey could have been a contest giveaway too.

289 colors

Guardsman and Princess Blue Green
White
Black
Vineyard Green
Red
Silver
Maroon
Bright blue/maybe metallic blue not sure
Sveciaa Red I think

Does Primer count as a color?

427 colors

Maroon
Ivy Green
Rangoon Red
Guardsman Blue
White
Charcoal
Black
Silver
Maroon

What about Viking Blue?

I know AC cars had ruby red and canary yellow were these ever used on Cobras? I guess I'm going to have to get another registry.

There was also an iris color which was a darker red, not sure of the full color but a few Cobras were made in this color.

Carry on...

Real 1 I've always liked a black car. How old are the underside pics? Is that what people are doing taking under pics now? I know at auctions there's the under car cameras now.

How do those colors square with the Registry? I'll have to check.

The underside pics of my car were taken this summer. Thought it would be an interesting photo.

I have a list of PPG codes for the CSX cars from HST. It's buried in a whole bunch of emails. All I know that mattered at the time was that the color on my British Racing Green was that the Green was Jag BRG, and the yellow stripe was a Mercedes yellow. HST offered additional colors over the basic colors from Shelby at the time.

Real1 - I'm trying to find my Photobucket pictures of the carbon fiber. Been kind of busy with new day job remote starting up. Probably this weekend.

I didn't know the CF were not made anymore at the time I ordered mine they were $15K higher ($55K) then the fiberglass which is what I bought for $39K. The wait was painful almost two years but I made out in the end getting the CF. Its a long story of how I got the CF and probably not a good idea to go into it here.

Great looking cars everyone.

Mike,
55k for CF? 39k for glass?
Man, those were the days, huh?
Shelby was offering CF doors, hood and trunk lids as an upgrade, up until maybe 2 years ago(?). I wonder if those were leftovers from HST?

razerwire,
Beeeutiful!

Rodneym,

Your not kidding however I haven't heard lately what the glass/aluminum cars are going for? I remember when I ordered mine I asked to have the underneath side of the trunk/hood painted the same as the car which they agreed would look better and said no problem. A few months later it was $1000 bucks to have that done they wanted to charge me but I reminded them they agreed to do it for free when I ordered it. I couldn't imagine what they charged for CF doors, hood or trunk?

I'm not sure Real 1. I do know that there is extra bracing through out car. It has 3 bars on sides behind door and was told extra bracing behind dash. The car can be supported by quick jacks because of extra bracing. All the rest of factory approved full competition cars I have seen have same dash. I shared parking spot with owners of csx1003 , which is full comp car also, at SAAC 35. It has same dash. Shelby gave Finishline Motorsports ok to build 22 cars but only 12 were finished, of which csx4163 is number 7. Finishline
motorsports built the Shelby Challenge Racers also, and they share same reinforcement less large roll bar. I thought about changing some things but decided not to, it is what it is. I love the look of your car as well. Sorry but I have to say more info page 711 and page 780 (:-) lol. Don't take the wrong way , I would like to know also.

Razorwire,

Great looking car, as indeed they all are. That is an unusual dashboard layout, is it to your own preference or does it replicate a particular car?
ITG is owned by a friend of mine so I was pleased to see his filters on your throttle bodies.

Razor's car is very interesting. Dry sump system, different trans and placement of shifter on tunnel and wider front scoop to accommodate that beautiful injection system.

Clearly a rare car.

Cool.

FatBoy, thanks for complement. I called Gen2Enginerring to find out for myself. The bars that forms the a frame are larger and extra bracing is behind dash. Finishline built the challenge cars also which used large gauges and pattern was carried over to the comp cars. After watching the Challenge cars run I was impressed. This car was setting in their shop for long time and I bought it half finished, only thing major that I requested to be changed was to drop drivers foot box.

Real 1, I value a complement from you, thanks. The transmission is a tex racing 4 speed with internal pump and the heat ex-changer for transmission is to passenger side of car, transmission is used in cup cars, can shift without using clutch.
