Bill you were nice enough to answer me when I asked the same question. The Cobra is a national icon and my replica is worth all the problems of owning a good replica of the ole snake..... go Mr. Bill

Kip I think you could buy more car for 30K . If this is the only Cobra you can
get then go for it . Have a local street rodder guru look at it ? Good luck.
You came to the right place to find out about your find.

Here is a 2015 Mustang GT that blew my socks off

Hey Bill, I rode in that new GT and it will set you back in the seat . This is a Mustang I
would love to own . Owning a Cobra for a lot of us is this ........You gotta LOVE FORDS !
I still own a Mustang II and pissed off my nephew by claiming my Mustang roots .
I owned a 1970 R code with the drag pack ,Yellow shaker hood ,3:91's posi 4 speed .
blah blah ........428 SCJ so FE guys I do love heavy iron . I traded that car with 68000
milrs on it for a da*n airplane ! airplane worth 20K lol ......SO my Ford love runs deep.
You never know who you may meet here and I like owning my Hurricane for it's Texas
redneck swagger . Scott Glover has a Ford Tri-Motor .....How Ford is that ? they were
made by Henry . Scott used to fly Mr. Shelby in his antique airplanes he owned . Being
a pilot and Cobra lover has caused a great rift in the river of life for me .......2008
and I am broke again right were I started lol.......My car is on jacks today .....but
it is nice to live in the USA ! .....by the way the Aussie guys are FORD to the bone too!

We fly our models and airplanes and hot rods ......Man you know she could fly and
my baby don't even ....Oh wait ! My wife wants to drive my car again ! !!
Bill you ever have any Pittsburg hotlinks and a coke ? never underestimate a cowboy
from East Texas lol................all in fun .

Kip: $30k? Now add in the new seats and tilt column ! Doing it yourself? Probably not. It won't be a "remove and replace" operation, and you will have to find something that fits, a lot of trial and error! Pay someone to do it ? You'll probably end up spending another $5k! These cars are full of suprises, all of which cost money. If you're very mechanicaly inclined, you can keep the costs down. If not, better have deep pockets!!

kip,

what's your MAX budget?

I ask because you can buy a cobra (if that's what you want) that has more street manors and in better condition than the car you were looking at.

If I were you....I'd look at a car with a modern drivetrain (coyote motor). It'll have the looks of a cobra, but the modern feel / reliability of driving a newer vehicle. There are plenty of cars out there that owners/builders have $50-60,000 into a build that are out there with low miles for high 30's or 40's. Build quality is everything. Have someone who knows these cars go with you to look at it. Then make a decision using your head

Something like a coyote motor, tremec TKO, 4 wheel discs (power w/ ABS) power steering, IRS and even a vintage air system for AC/heat. They are out there and at a fraction of what they cost to build. Or reach out to guys like Vintage Home or other like them depending if your budget is there

I recently saw a car on a dealers lot. he was asking 40k. upon looking at the car it looked like it was built using a chainsaw and sledgehammer with all ****ty parts that were shined up to look good. The dealer thought he had a Picasso (I was looking at a 70 superbee he had on his lot). I could jump on here, cobra country, FFcars and find a dozen cars for less money in better shape. Same can be said for the car you're looking at. For $30k there are better cars to be had

Don't let people put you off. Any old musclecar will have just as much need for repairs. If it is just a toy, not your daily driver it will be fine. Just do normal maintenance, and buy a nice one to start.
